Erin Kelly has written a clever thriller centered in the ballet world of Swan Lake. Ava Kirilova has practiced and worked hard her whole life and has finally reached the coveted position of dancing the lead role of Swan Lake. As in all competitions, there are other ballet dancers who are just waiting for her to fall off this pedestal so they can slip into this role.

EadieB Different narrators tell the story and there is lots of drama, intrigue and dark secrets which help to create twists and turns that lead to the surprise end that I didn't see coming. The book is a slow burn but keeps you hooked as you can feel the plot building. The writing is excellent and made me want to read more of the author's books. If you love thrillers, you need to add this to your list. 3y

GingerAntics @TheWordJar It's actually really good. It's the exact show (you can imagine each episode go by), but the extra little tidbits are great. I imagine the next time I watch the show that it's going to be even better. You get those little internal/mental notes on various characters. It's great. 6y

GingerAntics @TheWordJar I couldn't agree more. I just got the short stories from season two. They released a short story to after each episode, so we'll see how those go next. Nothing literary for season three sadly (as far as I know). 6y

Loved the show, figured it was about time to really read the novel. I remember starting it once and thinking "wow that's gender normative" and putting it down. I saw it at the library as an audiobook and thought I'd give it a go again. The kindle version I have looks like the left, but the audiobook looks like the right. Here's hoping it's better than I remember.

I found the first half of the book to be a slow-read but from the middle to the end it was a unputdownable page-turner. I did not see the twist at the end and it was a definite surprise and made up for the slow beginning. I would recommend this book to those who like psychological thrillers about lies and relationships.

EadieB @KathyWheeler Too much stupid info in the beginning. I just wanted the plot to move. I knew the book was good because I checked the ratings because I was going to bail so I knew it would get better. I also saw that she lost a lot of readers because of the boring stuff in the beginning which is a shame. 6y

KathyWheeler @EadieB It really is a shame. I had considered bailing on it too, and I‘m still not sure why I didn‘t. I‘m glad I didn‘t because it ended up being one of my favorite books. 6y
