#CuriousCovers Day 10: #AbstractArt

This is a book that deserves to be in everyone‘s classroom library. With all the discussion going on about the significance of #diversekidlit, this is a testament to a vision far grander and more expansive than anyone could ever imagine. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-e56

Jacob's New Dress | Sarah Hoffman, Ian Hoffman

This book is amazing! Jacob just wants to wear a dress and people are not sure what to think. Children will learn understanding, acceptance, friendship, family, and being ok with who you are. I love that I found this in my library and I'm going to make sure we read it a lot! #DiverseKidLit #KidLit #TeachOpenMinds

#ANewChapter Day 15: Our commitment to #DiverseRead(s) is seen in how we co-host the #DiverseKidLit meme every first Saturday of the month alongside other bloggers from diff parts of the world. In tagged book, Zoe has to leave the city to take refuge in another country. The setting in this picturebook is unclear, but Zoe creates a map of the city to mark specific areas where she felt the most happiness. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-hTk

I am co-hosting #DiverseKidLit with other book bloggers from around the world every first Saturday of the month. Today, I am glad to be sharing three amazing middle grade voices that establish a sense of self and identity, as they struggle to find their voices in the chaos that is middle school. Reading about what life was like in the orphanage is heartbreaking. For kids, especially for many kids in America, it'll show them that they have things and privileges that other kids around the world don't have--a full plate of food and clean drinking water.

Although the colours aren't as vibrant as I'd hoped for a story like this one, #BigRedLollipop is one of my favourite Canadian #picturebooks, featuring a sweet South Asian family. #RukhsanaKhan #DiverseKidLit #OwnVoices

Daddy searches for Lenny throughout the house and eventually enlists mommy in his search. The rare toddler book featuring an interracial couple without that being the point of the book. #weneeddiversebooks #diversekidlit
