So sweet. Love Ferdinand. He just wanted peace.
Perfect children‘s book. Pub 1936

JanuarieTimewalker13 It was banned in Germany and Spain. Hitler demanded it be burned in Nazi Germany. Smh 4mo

Probably not meant to be suspenseful, but though I've heard of it, I never knew the ending. I was worried there for a moment! Again, great art, sprinkling of satire, beautiful message.

JackOBotts My 5yo picked this as her “picture walk” book when we played school yesterday. I love Ferdinand…personally, this reminds me of being in 1st Grade. 💜 1y

#MarchMagic Day 23: This is my #FavoriteClassic children‘s book. While the other bulls are scrambling all over each other to be picked for the bull fights in Madrid, Ferdinand couldn‘t really care less. He would amble steadily and slowly, absorbed in his own imaginings. My review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5oD

JamieArc I love this one too. I always gift it to friends who are having babies. ❤️ 2y
Suet624 I‘ve read this so often to my kids and grandkids. Love it. 2y

Not really. My immigrant mom preferred to tell me oral stories instead of reading. I really enjoyed her version of fairy tale stories.

My earliest memory of reading a book with someone will be at school during small group for EL students. The tagged book was one my favorites.

BookmarkTavern That sounds lovely, getting variations of fairy tales! Thank you for sharing! 2y

Ferdinand, which my kid is reading in Latin, has Ferdinand leap up from his beloved cork tree, dislodging a cork sapling. Munro/Lawson didn‘t understand how cork trees made cork! But I wish this were a thing.

The illustrations in this book are to die for! A story of a gentle soul who would not be moved to violence.

I used to always get this one and Lambert the Sheepish Lion mixed up when I was a kid. Ferdinand is the sweetest, but I love that he is also hard core when it comes to doing what he wants. So much tougher than going along with the crowd. You sniff your flowers, Ferdinand. Get on with your badass self.
