#Read2025

One of my #Roll100 Feb picks (#82 Any Non-Fiction) & also a #BlameItOnLitsy rec from @Kitta (on one of my posts about The Art Thief she recommended this one in the museum theft true crime genre). In this case a 20-year-old American flautist & fly-tying enthusiast steals 299 rare bird skins from a UK museum. I‘d have thought all the detail on fly-tying would have bored me but I found it & the crime fascinating. It reads like fiction.

Texreader Yes! It was such a fascinating book. A testament to excellent writing 1w
DieAReader 🤓💖Excellent!! 1w
Kitta I‘m glad you liked it!! I was worried too it would be too much especially about the fly fishing (feathers and bird info I like because I‘m a biologist 👩🏻‍🔬), but it‘s a great book. Definitely crime fiction! I ended up reading the Art Thief and loved that too! (edited) 7d

It‘s here! #BookMail and #BlameItOnLitsy selection I saw @TheAromaofBooks post about. I peeked inside at various pages and it‘s gorgeous. May just read in small bites. I‘m not painting any time soon, so I can savor the advice here.

TheAromaofBooks Oh YAY!! I hope you love it!! If nothing else, the book itself is so pretty 😂 1w
DogMomIrene @TheAromaofBooks It‘s definitely gorgeous! Excited to start reading it. 7d

#BlameItOnLitsy

Choosing to be more intentional with my daily reading, tonight I took out my French edition of Hans Christian Andersen stories. Printed in Italy🇮🇹 in 1970, this mint condition book is one of several in a collection I inherited when my maternal grandmother passed in 2008.

📚🤓Daily Intention/Goal: 45-60 mins

This was a #blameitonlitsy library book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Fun, sexy, and believable character growth. The bad thing about my kindle is that with the lights off I end up staying up way too late 😂

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Really interesting story of the world‘s most prolific art thief - who doesn‘t steal for financial gain but rather for being able to possess the beauty of the works himself. A deep dive into his psychology, relationships, and crimes.

I kept falling asleep when trying to read this at the beginning so I‘m making this as a 3.75 instead of a 4. I think I‘m just super exhausted right now though.

Read for #sharreadathon

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thank you for sharing ❤️ 3w
Kitta #blameitonlitsy was possibly @dabbe who I found out about this from. I think the sleeping all the time was a result of healing from pneumonia still, so maybe I‘ll upgrade to 4 stars 😂 7d
dabbe @Kitta I shared the #sharrreadathon post, but not this book. It looks interesting, though! I hope you're well on your way to recovering from pneumonia. 🩶🩷🩶 7d
Kitta @dabbe ah yes that was it! Well if you liked the feather thief I‘d recommend this one! 7d
dabbe @Kitta Now on the TBR! 🤗 7d

Couldn‘t decide what sort of mood I was in so I‘ve ended up reading 5 books concurrently….

Cuilin I used to be a one book at a time until I joined Litsy. Now I consistently have about 6 on the go at one time. #BlameItOnLitsy lol 📚🤦‍♀️😁 3w
TheEllieMo @Cuilin we have to find a way to get through all those books on our TBR piles, don‘t we?! 3w

Definitely a #blameitonlitsy purchase, but one that‘s useful/appropriate for our times. Maybe Montaigne is the way to help us find our way back to each other. #litsyatoz #letterM

Tamra Oh, this is a good reminder to take my Montaigne off the shelf! I really enjoyed his essays and have meant to get back to them. The complete collection is perfect for dipping in & out. 3w
Lcsmcat @Tamra Do you have a favorite translation or so you go back and forth? 3w
Tamra @Lcsmcat my translation is by Donald Frame. The Complete Essays of Montaigne. I haven‘t read any others, but I‘d be interested. 3w
Lcsmcat @Tamra My Kindle version is Cotten/Florin/Hazlitt. (It was cheap 😀) but I may invest in a paper copy a with a different translation. As tempting as it is to read it in French, I‘m not sure I‘m up to the archaic language! 3w
Tamra @Lcsmcat oh, yes that would be difficult! Even reading it in translation requires concentration. 3w

This is a historical crime novel based on an actual event…and it‘s so well written and intriguing!
Life isn‘t easy for Greek grandma Zina. Especially now that she‘s been accused of a crime in London where she does not speak the language. Enter Eva into Zina‘s life. It‘s the 1950s and translating for the accused was an afterthought. That age-old mother in law vs daughter in law relationship
Another #blameitonlitsy book, @TheKidUpstairs

TheKidUpstairs Glad you liked it! It was a total #BlameitonLitsy read for me, too. I think it was @squirrelbrain 's review that got me 😁 3w
squirrelbrain It was such a great book wasn‘t it @TheKidUpstairs ? Glad you liked it too, Chelsea. I have an ARC of her new one - due out on 8th May in the UK. I want to get to it soon, but I have so many other ARCs that I‘m trying to read in pub order. 3w
TheKidUpstairs @squirrelbrain ooh, that one sounds good too! It releases digitally here in May, and is a cheap pre-order, might just have to do that! Have you read her debit? 3w
TheKidUpstairs @squirrelbrain that should, of course, say debut 🤦‍♀️ 3w
squirrelbrain I knew what you meant! 🤪 @TheKidUpstairs And no, I must have assumed Unspeakable Acts was her debut so didn‘t know there was another. I *may* have just ordered a copy from Amazon. (Well, when you‘ve got a Xmas voucher burning a hole in your pocket..🤷‍♀️). 3w
