More #Blackpublishingpower #BlackoutBestsellerlist #bookmail. ❤️ Really happy to have my own copy of this. Yes, it‘s an essential (and demanding and hard) read, but it‘s also a great reference book to have on hand, with a thorough and notably user-friendly index. I know I‘ll be consulting it a lot!

Part 1 of my book bender #bookhaul just arrived. four #blackoutbestsellerlist and the remainder are still, I believe, #ownvoices.

I‘ve been eyeing the RR Presents forever and Amazon had a lot of them in the 3 for the price of 2 sale. There was one more book in the box but the kiddo already claimed How to Catch a Mermaid.

Still waiting on two more shipping separately and the Book Outlet box. This is why I haven‘t made my #bookspin list yet!

BookmarkTavern I‘ve really enjoyed everything I‘ve read from RRPresents, although I haven‘t read a couple of the ones you‘ve got. I hope you enjoy them! ❤️ 4y
ravenlee @ozma.of.oz I tried to read the first Aru Shah from the library and bailed on it, but it was a timing thing. I want to try it again sometime. It‘s the only one I‘ve started. 4y
BookmarkTavern Aru Shah was a real rough start for me. I didn‘t really get into it until about halfway through. I‘ve got Tristan Strong on hold right now and I‘m really looking forward to it! 4y

Oh my goodness, it has been TWO months since I‘ve updated here! I miss it here. Since I‘ve been working from home, I‘ve taken over my library‘s Instagram account. That has zapped your all of my social media energy. But I‘ll be returning to work this week, and I want to get back into posting on my own accounts! // These are the books I bought for #BlackoutBestsellerList last week. CR “River of Royal Blood” and digging it! 🌪

Ijeoma Oluo covers: racism, privilege, intersectionality, police brutality, affirmative action, and so much more. These are topics that we NEED to be having conversations about. She gives you the information needed to understand the topics and guidance on how to talk about them. She goes beyond that to challenge us to not just talk, but act. The last chapter is full of actions we can take to dismantle racial oppression. Seriously, read it!

ChasingOm I bought this today to do my part for #blackoutbestsellerlist. As if I needed an excuse to buy more books! 5y

These have all been on my TBR for too long. I‘m also hoping to share them after I read them.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Kindred is great! The other 2 are on my to read list too. 5y
Reviewsbylola I just bought the top two titles and loved Kindred. 5y
Bookzombie @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Reviewsbylola I thought Fledgling was great so I‘m sure I will think the same of Kindred. 🙂 4y

Today‘s #bookhaul from BN (the kiddo and I braved the masses today; most people were not masked and not making any efforts at distancing 😡), including two Black authors that were mostly impulse buys. The POC authors‘ books I really wanted weren‘t in stock or are due in paperback in the coming months so I‘m holding out. I know my recent Book Outlet haul has at least a couple books from Black authors, too. I‘m trying!

Litsy friends, I have an admission to make:
Most of my 1700 books are white. Most are also USA/UK based authors. It was never a conscious choice, but likely a result of what interests me, what I relate to, and the bookish social media I frequent. Being here among so many unique people has helped me to not only increase the amount of books I read, but diversify the books I read. In May I ordered books that included those by POC. ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick ⬆️I obviously want to read what I own, but I also want to increase books in translation or based in countries I'm not familiar with. Thank you for helping me to expand my horizons through books. I picked up 2 books by black authors this week, both of which are highly recommended here. 🖤 #blackoutbestsellerlist #blackpublishingpower 5y

AvidReader25 Wonderful choices! I‘m working to expand the authors I read as well. Kindred is such a great book! 5y
