This was a bit of a slow starter for me.

I honestly think this addition to the Hamish Macbeth books was one of the greatest ones I have read yet! I love the friendship made between Hamish & James! And I'm glad Hamish ended with another love interest!

This one was extra jarring & felt like a totally different series. Just when I finally had gotten used to the 2nd narrator, this one has a different one. Everything felt off in this one. Sigh. 3⭐️

I‘ve read all of the Agatha Raisin books in the regular series but somehow never got to this one. I usually listen to the audiobooks but I read this one with my eyeballs & it was pretty funny. The usual Agatha hijinks and a dead body or two. 4⭐️ 80 points

A prequel to the Agatha Raisin series (#SeriesLove2024) that is set as Agatha begins her PR business. It was okay and like many novella struggled to truly tell the story. Not at all necessary to reading the rest of the series.

TheSpineView Well done! 8mo
Andrew65 Read the whole series but not read this short story. 8mo
Mollyanna @TheSpineView Thanks 😊 8mo
Mollyanna @Andrew65 I wouldn‘t bother reading the short stories, it didn‘t really add anything. I‘m glad it was short. Good to see you back on Litsy 😊 8mo
Andrew65 @Mollyanna Thanks 😍, trying to get some normality and order back. I often feel this way about short stories - just not enough depth to them, and not usually a fan. 8mo

The latest in the Hamish Macbeth series is kind of a tie-in to events that happened in the previous book. Green‘s contribution to the series has made the narrative a bit more polished, which I think has made the characters and setting fresher and in some ways has revitalized the series.

I can tell I am that distracted that I forgot to take a photo of the book before returning it to the library! So, enjoy a photo of #SebastianKitty #CatsOfLitsy !

I stumbled upon the short story that looks at Agatha‘s first case, way before she moves to the Cotswolds. It was okay. Short stories are hard for me, as I much prefer the development from a novel, but it was an interesting intro to Agatha Raisin. The audio is not a Penelope Keith audio, so I really missed her narration of this. #BBRC #Adult #LongStoryShort #52BookClub24 #AnApostropheInTheTitle

LibrarianRyan Really. I had no idea this novella existed. Inusually love novellas. I like to see what an author can do in such few pages. 1y
Librarybelle @LibrarianRyan It came out a few years ago, before Beaton passed away. Her last few books she wrote were not the best in the series. 1y

The first Agatha Raisin written by R.W. Green, and it felt so much like the older Agatha Raisin books! Humor, danger, and way more about the murder than Agatha‘s concerns over her love life. And, Penelope Keith as the voice narrator! Great listen!

An “in between” short story featuring Agatha Raisin that did not quite work. Agatha hosts a Christmas party for a few seniors, and one dies. Agatha is then concerned about the aftermath…vague, so I don‘t give away too many details.

Short stories are very hit or miss for me, often lacking in development and detail. This story, while it hits the plot points, seems a bit convoluted, more than a usual Agatha Raisin story. Oh well!

i enjoyed this short read of Agatha Raisin‘s first case after opening her own agency. i haven‘t read any other Agatha Raisin books before. i am going to go back and start from the first of the series.
this book had good characters. Agatha is a real pistol.
