I'm impressed with how much Dahl got across for character and emotion in the short space of this novella! And it's always fun to see a librarian in a romance novel, although I do take issue with her saying the library's whole "shtick is quiet contemplation." (Um, not anymore Lauren!) Very hot sex scenes, and with two characters over 40, which is not common in #romance from my experience. This cover guy is too young to be Jake though, #badcover!

I'm rereading this because it's been too long, but my edition's cover is AWFUL. I'm using this as my #badcover for #readharder2018 . Because it's sooo bad.

Great book, #badcover. Butler's sci-fi novel digs into what makes us human and a complex set of questions about sexuality and survival. Lilith, the main character, is believable and compelling and I need the next book.....

The Alice Network did not capture me so I put it down for now. I so loved this author's retelling of Beauty & the Beast in Nazi Germany (partly why I'm not connecting to Alice) so I decided to read her first book. This retelling of Rapunzel is set during the Sun King's reign about the woman who first wrote it, and the fairy tale is already coming alive to me. Posting this for @TheNextBook 's amusement. There's been a lot of chatter on Twitter today about the lack of POC on covers about and by POC. Here's an excellent example from 1987. Literally, page eight the narrator says that the boy she bears has "smoky brown skin, paler than her own." ??

Day 22 of #angiebookishnovember is #goodbook #badcover. I adore #johnscalzi. I love his books and I love his blog. I met him a few years ago at a bookstore in Brookline and he was super lovely. Old Man's War has since gotten a much better cover than this outdated nonsense.
