Awesome graphic novel (vol 1-5). Three witches on a road trip tracking down their stolen magical possessions and trying to uncover who is plotting against them. Love the visuals. Diverse characters and body shapes! Cool side characters and subplots. Not deep at all, but very fun. Like witchy candy. A food writer flees to Maine for inspiration and to escape her past. Instead, she finds herself haunted, literally and figuratively. I loved the setting, the theme, the food descriptions, and the side characters. But the protagonist? Quit drinking and go to therapy already. Also, maybe don't have kinky sex with a ghost? I generally don't go for post apocalyptic reads, but this one peaked my interest. A fungal epidemic hits the world, leaving people slowly dying as they mindlessly shuffle through their routines. Debbie Harry is a fascinating woman, she certainly held her own against the men who were the majority in her genre, and outshone every single one of them. Surprisingly good supernatural thriller that weaves together jewish history and mysticism with a current day mystery. I didn't always love the chapters from the past, but see why they were needed. I really appreciated the understanding of Jewish culture and family dynamics. #24B420 #Readathon update! Most of these hours are for my latest audiobook read, Diarmaid‘s McCulloch‘s hefty “Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years”. Haven‘t learned too much new yet, but I‘m only up to ~100 AD—it‘s nice to have a review of things though 😊.
