The Spectator Bird | Wallace Stegner

Mehso-so

A bit slow-paced and contemplative for my tastes. I didn't feel especially engaged with the characters until quite late in the story, but I do appreciate the quality of Stegner's writing and how he explores the theme of aging.

Pickpick

Very interesting early Pratchett novel, full of colorful characters and some deeper philosophy..... plus I can still see some early Discworld and Strata ideas floating around, from made worlds complete with fossils, to mentions of small gods and Hogswatch.

Gezemice I have enjoyed this one. It was kind of.... green. But clearly imaginative. 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice I agree! And reading it near Strata and Discworld I thought it was fun to see the connections. This one talked about planted fossils, just to make people question...definitely Strata-like. And it mentioned the small gods and Hogswatch night, things I usually associate with the Disc. So it was really a great time to read it. I‘m also really glad to be back on track with the group on this one. 7y
