I chose this book for #TitlesAndTunes #DramaQueen because of its title but it doesn‘t fit the prompt at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ The drama is real in Segher‘s short story collection, which mostly is about nazism and the war.
In the title story, for example, a woman imagines herself with her old schoolmates on a class trip. She intersperses her descriptions of the children in the years before the war with the lives they grew up to endure. A tough read.

Librarybelle That does sound like a tough read. 1y
Cinfhen Sounds really uncomfortable 🙁oh well, next month‘s choice sounds really promising ( and it‘s short🙃) 1y

Pickpick

This was a low pick for me. The story moved very slowly and I didn't like this one nearly as much as Marsh's other mysteries, but I did love the New Zealand setting.

This was my final book finished yesterday for the #20in4 readathon, and I managed about 12 hours over the 4 days. @Andrew65

Librarybelle I‘ve not read any of Marsh‘s books…I plan to at some point! 2y

Does this game become deadly? I cannot wait to find out- the intersection of WWII, art, NY, & murder intrigues me.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book! There was so much description about the characters and setting, you felt like you were right there in Brooklyn with Francie and her family.

Cortg One of my faves! My daughter helped me name my new aloe plant Francie. She felt it needed a literary name and asked me to name some of my favorite books. 5y
janeycanuck I loved it, too. So happy you did a buddy read for this! I think I‘ll miss the last discussion, though 🙁 5y
mrp27 I'm not quite finished but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a 5 star read and an all time favorite. 5y

Re-visiting a popular and well loved classic which I personally didn‘t get around to reading until 2016. #192019challenge #1943 @Marchpane

#latergram (or is it #laterlitsy?) pic from last summer day outing on the trails.

Tamra I just saw from another Litten the other day that there is a sequel! (edited) 7y

Mehso-so

It is #1943, #Nazi occupation in #Amsterdam. Hanneke's work is to find and deliver sought-after black market goods to paying customers. Then one day, her client asked her to look for a missing #Jewish girl. I like the plot but unfortunately halfway through the story, I find it rather slow and dull. There was no umph moments for me and I didn't feel a deep connection with the characters. #WWII #historicalfiction
