Eliyana can t bear to look at her own reflection. But what if that were only one Reflection one world? What if another world exists where her blemish could become her strength? Eliyana is used to the shadows. With a birthmark covering half her face, she just hopes to graduate high school unscathed. That is, until Joshua hops a fence and changes her perspective. No one, aside from her mother, has ever treated her like he does: normal. Maybe even beautiful. Because of Joshua, Eliyana finally begins to believe she could be loved. But one night her mother doesn t come home, and that s when everything gets weird. Now Joshua is her new, and rather reluctant, legal Guardian. Add a hooded stalker and a Central Park battle to the mix and you ve gone from weird to otherworldly. Eliyana soon finds herself in a world much larger and more complicated than she s ever known. A world enslaved by a powerful and vile man. And Eliyana holds the answer to defeating him. How can an ordinary girl, a blemished girl, become a savior when she can t even save herself?"

Guys. My bookshelves are out of control. Again. Why do those little DVD shelves have to be too small for books?? And when did my BF stick those chips in there? #shelfie #bookshelves #personallibrary

julesG I love this. A bit of clutter makes it cozier. 7y

I enjoyed the first half of this YA fantasy, but the world building and mythology got way too complicated. By the end of the book, I had no idea what was going on because I couldn't keep track.

TrishB But what a cover! 7y

The sequel for this fairytale-esque urban fantasy will be releasing in July, but really, I'm ready for it now. #SequelPlease #AprilBookShowers

Sara Ella is a talented author; I think she's one to watch. However, parts of this debut novel didn't quite work for me. It starts out in New York City but jumps to a "reflection," one of many mirror realities running parallel to our own. A lot of characters and concepts were introduced, and it was almost too much to keep track of. I also didn't quite connect with the protagonist. Still, I think Ella has a lot of potential in the YA genre.

... appearances can deceive. A jagged surface doesn't always allude to what truly lies beneath.

BookChats Not sure I did that right, all. I'm inching my way into Sara Ella's Unblemished in the margins of a retreat this weekend and this quote made me excited about where this is going. What are you reading this weekend? 8y
