Soft pick. I did not really care for Amity, the MC. Yes, she‘s a globetrotting independent female in the Victorian era, but she‘s also hopelessly naive in some ways. Benedict, the male MC, also makes assumptions about Amity‘s ā€experiencesā€¯ that are a bit insulting, at least to me. However, the suspenseful part of the novel involves a serial killer, a la Jack the Ripper, which was intriguing. Add a few twists, and the suspense was compelling.

I love Amanda Quick. Her characters are smart and quirky. Her women are never shrinking violets. Her men are never overbearing. She throws in a little mystery with the love story. I really enjoy her books. They are easy to read but not fluffy. #catsoflitsy

Another good read by Quick. I enjoy her books. They're a little predictable, and do tend to start getting a certain sameness to them. But they're a great, and uplifting read. I always like how independent she makes her female main characters.

WarpedSweetness @GlassAsDiamonds I finally started getting her pen names straight by just associating them with the particular genre written under that name. Quick=historical Castle=sci-fi Krentz=modern But don't ask me to go further 'cuz then I'm lost! Lol 7y

WarpedSweetness @GlassAsDiamonds I really like her Castle ones, because I like sci-fi. They do get so repetitive, but they're still so good. Same here! Since the middle of October I haven't been able to keep my focus on reading, so romances like this, or the alien romances I've suddenly become addicted to, are my fall back. 7y

WarpedSweetness @GlassAsDiamonds I like Nalini Singh. I've read her Psy-Changeling novels and then a rock star book by her. They're fun, more graphic sex scenes. Lol But not as graphic as Lora Leigh romances! 7y

GlassAsDiamonds @WarpedSweetness OH my good lord, Lora Leigh...!! I keep reading her in anthologies I buy for Singh and... yeah. Hmm. Her heroines ANNOY THE EVER LOVING CRAP out of me, at least in her novellas & a few have been a little grey on consent which I didn‘t like. For Singh, I‘ve stuck to her Archangel series and some of the changeling novellas but I can feel myself slipping!! ššš she‘s an autobuy, but a careful one! š‰š‰š‰ 7y
