orange: The Complete Collection 2

Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn't take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter informs her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. What is Naho to make of the letter's contents and its cryptic warning? Orange: The Complete Collection 2 also includes a bonus story, Haruiro Astronaut. This five chapter story is about a pair of twins who discover that they can't share everything in life - or at least not an alien that suddenly becomes a part of it.

This collection includes vol 4 & 5 of Orange and the story of Haruiro Astronaut.

As the story of the friends continue in vol 4 & 5, I was an emotional wreck once again. In the future, they live with regrets they hope their past selves can change. I‘m already waiting on the last and 6th vol from the library.

Haruiro Astronaut was a nice change to the seriousness of Orange. HA is about 16 yr old twins, one very popular, trying to find love.

I don‘t know where to begin with this series! So wonderful! I have clinical depression, so a lot of this hit home. If you don‘t suffer from depression, you may not understand how some of the characters feel. And that‘s okay. What *is* important is that we be more aware of the people around us. We need each other and this book is a beautiful reminder that we *can* save a life. & if you‘re hurting, speak up. You really are NOT ALONE. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A happy ending to an at times saddening tale. The science behind the notes being sent back in time isn‘t really explained, but the great portrayal of friendship and love make up for it.

I loved this series. It's so uplifting and heavy on friendship but not too heavy on romance. I wish we could have seen more in the future and how the past events changed it but I am happy with the ending.

[#MangaReview] Orange Volume Two by Ichigo Takano. If you are someone (or knows someone) who deals with depression or mental illness I think this story is an amazing one to pick up. Of course, please be careful & know your limits when it comes to reading themes with suicide and depression. 📖♥️

Here's my June spending log. It was my most expensive month yet because I NEEDED to see how ORANGE would end and my library couldn't oblige me, but I used gift cards for both the larger purchases so I'll try to shrug off my horror at that high, high number.

I also calculated my 2nd Quarter bookish spending (down from last quarter!) and my yearly $$ to date. I've spent an average of $2.02 per book & I've read all but 12 of my 78 purchases.

TrishB I could never do this..... 6y

As I sank deep, deep, deep into the last two volumes of ORANGE, I realized it blew me away in part because it's high stakes slice-of-life. Naho and her friends have fairly typical high school adventures, but there's a desperate urgency behind it all as they try to give Kakeru something to cling to. Combine that with strong friendship, time travel, and emotional truth, and I'm SOLD.

....which is the coherent version. Inside, I'm all !!!!!!!!!!!!!

xicanti This omnibus also includes a one-volume manga called HARUIRO ASTRONAUT. It's a cute shojo story about twin sisters, but it's not on the same level as ORANGE. I recommend leaving a couple of days between the two stories since they have wildly different tones. 7y

I loved the first half of ORANGE so much that I went out and bought the rest instead of waiting for my library to order it. Now I'm a little afraid to read it. How many of y'all feel that way about highly anticipated books?

I also swung by the library to return some stuff and pick up THIS WOUND IS THE WORLD, which I requested after a conversation last Thursday. It sounds so good.

I devoured this book, although I found some aspects jarring. In terms of story, it had great build up and the characters were all likeable. I think my inner-mom kept wanting to intervene and get those poor kids to talk to an adult! (I realize this is just me being a mom/teacher and is not actually the book‘s fault).

Some of the drama was deeply contrived, but I am still a Sucker(TM) who cried.

🍊An extraordinary story with perfect amount of tension, pacing, fluffy friendships, sweet romances, & serious subject matter.
🍊Evokes emotions that you won't realise you have hidden away.
🍊Beautifully written.
🍊Lovely illustrations.
🍊Realistic portrayal of emotional anguish stemming from grief & deep-rooted loss.
🍊Focuses on the main plot & sticks to it without being stretched too long or being too short.
🍊TW: Strong suicide themes.
🍊5/5

Who can get any reading done when you've got such a cutie sleeping next to you? 😻😻 Fighting the urge to tickle his ears.

rubyslippersreads I would totally give in to that urge. 😹 7y

BiblioNyan @rubyslippersreads Oh I completely did haha. He grabbed my hand, nibbled my fingers, and then cuddled with my hand. Which would've been great if it didn't put me in an awkward angle. 😹😹😹 7y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A great story about friendship. It also shows us how to treat others. We never know what other people are going through. It's a great reminder to treat others with kindness and compassion. Something at this stressful time of year is good to remember. Your kind words or actions might be exactly what someone needs. 😊💜

Seriously this book 💜💜💜

Centique It looks great. You reckon it would be good for a 12yo? (Always looking for new books for my velocireader) 8y
Blair_Reads @Centique it is YA but it centers around a group of friends who send letters into the past to help their friend not commit suicide. It's not graphic but it does deal with that hard subject matter. Beautiful story. Maybe read it first yourself?? 8y
Centique Sounds good thanks! Yes I will read it first but cd be ok, school has been doing work with the Y7s on depression and suicide this year. So different to when I was at school but so important. 8y
Blair_Reads @Centique I agree. Very important. I also think this story is a beautiful example of how you should treat people even if you don't know they are hurting. Bc we never know what people are going through. If you and your velocireader read it I'd like to know what you think 😊 8y

Orange is a beautiful series with really interesting characters. The friendships are charming and touching. It's underlying message or love and loyalty feel deeply heartfelt. As shojos go, it's one of the strongest I've read.
