For Real
For Real | Alison Cherry
6 posts | 4 read | 9 to read
From Alison Cherry, author of Red, a novel PW declares sparkles with wit, comes a terrific new book about two sisters and one big question: how do you know whos for real? No parents. No limits. No clue what theyre in for. Shy, cautious Claire has always been in her confident older sisters shadow. While Mirandas life is jam-packed with exciting people and whirlwind adventures, Claire gets her thrills vicariously by watching people live large on reality television. When Miranda discovers her boyfriend, Samir, cheating on her just after her college graduation, its Claire who comes up with the perfect plan. Theyll outshine Mirandas fame-obsessed ex while having an amazing summer by competing on Around the World, a race around the globe for a million bucks. Revenge + sisterly bonding = awesome. But the show has a twist, and Claire is stunned to find herself in the middle of a reality-show romance that may be just for the cameras. This summer could end up being the highlight of her life . . . or an epic fail forever captured on film. In a world where drama is currency and manipulation is standard, how can you tell whats for real? Praise for FOR REAL: "A sweet and funny story of sisters bonding."--Publishers Weekly "[Cherry] creates a wildly diverse cast of characters, writing with both ease and emotional intelligence. A comic romp with considerable wisdom on the side."--Kirkus Reviews "Funny and lighthearted, this novel nevertheless delivers truth in tender ways and is paced at lightning speed, making it a strong choice for reluctant readers."--Booklist "Fresh, fun, and packed with adventure."--VOYA From the Hardcover edition.

Mehso-so

I was pretty disappointed in this. The premise sounded awesome, but fell flat. The side characters were forgettable and I struggled to get through the second half.

I read a lot of non-fiction (for me) this Spring for a book prize committee that I was part of. Today, I was listening to the most recent All the Books and Liberty‘s co-host this week is a host for Book Riot‘s non-fiction podcast, For Real. This week‘s episode is a recap of the best non-fiction of 2019 so far and Liberty Hardy was a guest host in a quid pro quo. I am excited to find some other titles to add to my nonfiction TBR! #bookriot #forreal

This is old and I'm sure has been posted before but seriously?!
Do some men just refuse to learn about women and their bodies?
He thinks women can't pee with the maze in our bodies!?!? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not my picture. Not sure original person to post.

batsy I remember seeing this on Twitter and was embarrassed for the author, who is obviously not embarrassed, because he's a published author 😳 7y

JacintaMCarter It's from The Witches of Eastwick by John Updike. The whole book reads like he's never met an actual human woman. 7y

Pickpick

Do you like The Amazing Race? Do you like fun, lighthearted books about family with a fun dose of drama? This is the book for you! I really loved this story of two sisters going on a show like The Amazing Race to enact revenge on a cheating ex. So fun, so campy, can't wait to devour everything she wrote!
