For the second time this year I'm reading this book for breakfast. I always imagined that Cohen would be here as long as me. Now I have to face the fact that he is here no more and the world is poorer for it. May his memory be a blessing.

I just. I can't. My heart is so broken this week. I know he was more than ready to go, and I'm glad he doesn't have to be here for what happens next, but FUCK. I'm going to miss him.
My heart is broken, again. I can't tell you how much this man, this poet, this songwriter, has meant to me.
Happy birthday Leonard Cohen! For #recommendsday, here's Book of Mercy, his 1984 collection of modern-day psalms. I've loved his work since I was a teenager, and my first tattoo was drawn from the cover of this book.
