#IdiomInsight

Although the idiom #DownForTheCount is sports metaphor that expresses a negative outcome for whoever or whatever the speaker is referencing, for some reason it made me think of counting cards & laying them down.

I chose this book & “21” the movie made from it where 6 MIT math students used counting cards in Blackjack to get more than 3 million $$$ from Vegas casinos. ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Eggs Great choices- I found 21 very enjoyable 🎥 1y

Day #21 of #NovemberbytheNumbers & I am getting a little creative. 😉 This book, which is billed as #nonfiction but is at least partly fabricated and/or definitely exaggerated, was the basis for the movie 21 (2008). ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Synopsis: MIT students run number counting scams via the MIT Blackjack Team. I read this after the movie was released, on loan from a friend, & according to #Goodreads, gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️. I remember nothing about it. 🙈

Blaire Great choice. This was a fun read. 7y

#NovemberByTheNumbers I saw the movie #21 have not read the book (which is a prompt for #pop18 ) loved the film,I‘ll let you know about the book....

MinDea I didn't know the movie was based on a book...I knew it was based on true events. I bet the book is good! 7y
tpixie I listened to the book and I enjoyed it & still need to see the movie. I think the movie is probably more dramatized than the book. If I remember right the book might read more like a biography then a story. 7y

#booktober #LongTitles The book that made me think I could count cards in Vegas and get rich even though I still "carry the one" when adding. And I only do that if I don't have access to a calculator. ?
