I actually made it through to the halfway mark before bailing due to massive boredom. Maybe if I had read this when it first pubbed and I was the kind of person who liked chick-lit? But it‘s seven years old and I prefer the George Romero/Jonathan Mayberry/Alden Bell (‘The Angels are the Reapers‘) kind of zombie tale. Still, it must be said that Julia Whelan did a great job of delivering different characters and tearing down the fourth wall. 🎧
🎧 A rabies-like virus from Asia zombifies its victims and the rapidity of the spread creates a pandemic within days. I just started the audiobook version and it looks like it‘s going to be an escape/journey tale with a female protag in the lead... Julia Whelan is narrating with absolute mastery.
That face when you're reading a book and it turns out to be a deadly virus (Bornavirus LX) that causes fever and joint pain and breathing trouble and started in Asia (Vietnam), spread the world in days, and is taking over city by major city and it hits just a LITTLE too close to hone.
So far this seems like the coronavirus on steroids mixed with The Walking Dead! 😅 Very appropriate reading during this crazy time in our lives!
Book mail from my high school best friend for my birthday. Her passive aggressive way to force me to read her choice of books! I did the same with her to get her to read HP if you can believe it! Cannot wait to start this but have library books that need to be read first...
I've never been a fan of Zombie apocalypse books but this one was a surprisingly good read. I liked the fact that this author didn't do the expected with her characters and the plot.
I am a huge zombie fan, if there is a audible book out there with zombies in it I have probably got it. Sarah Lyons Flemings series is got to be one of my favorites! I've listened to the series 3 times now. The characters are great, the plot and pace is engaging and it feels real to me. I love fantasy but with this you get a more realistic take on the whole end of the world that involves zombies. I'd definitely nudge a friend toward these books!
