One-Minute Mindfulness
One-Minute Mindfulness: 50 Simple Ways to Find Peace, Clarity, and New Possibilities in a Stressed-Out World | Donald Altman
2 posts | 1 to read
Being fully in the moment is harder than it sounds, as anyone who has tried not to think about the past or future while meditating can attest. Yet the rewards of present-moment awareness, or mindfulness, are so great that in Buddhist psychology, it is considered a path to enlightenment. But what about the mundane thorns in that path, things like difficult coworkers, parenting challenges, and bad habits? Donald Altman brings the benefits of mindfulness down to earth and into everyday life. The fifty exercises and practices here build awareness and center attention in ways that free readers to savor routine pleasures, build fulfillment in work, enhance and heal relationships, reduce stress, change unhealthy behaviors, and connect to peace even in the midst of chaos or uncertainty. Simple yet profound, Altmans techniques illuminate how to take countless baby steps toward enlightenment on any given day.

Merry Christmas to me! It's taking some time to get used to the Paperwhite. Does anyone else feel this way? I'm still deciding if I like it.
I usually read physical books, but I'm trying to switch in order to save money on buying books... This way I can just get e-books from the library...fast.

mrsthilkey I looooove my Paperwhite. I don't think you'll be disappointed. 8y
vivastory @Rachael_reads I just wrote a post about my experiences. I just bought one two weeks ago 8y
mrsthilkey And yes, checking out ebooks and audiobooks from the library has changed my life, truly! 8y

melbeautyandbooks I love reading on the kindle. I got my first one many years ago, a second generation. I upgraded to the kindle voyage last year. I don't read print books at all now, with the exception of giveaways I lucky enough to win. 8y
LindaGrace812 I'm booklingual. 😁 I love reading paper books and kindle books. If the book is good, I don't care how I read it! 8y
rubyslippersreads @LindaGrace812 I'm booklingual too! What a great term! 😀 8y
TheBookStacker Depends on how good the book is if I read it on my kindle or in print 8y
britt_brooke I love my Paperwhite! If you've always read print, it'll take a little time to get used to. I'm also booklingual, but I do often prefer the convenience of my small, lightweight, backlit Kindle. 😉 8y
julesG I'm so addicted to my kindle, when I read a paperback lately, I pressed the page three times before I realised this won't turn the page. 8y
Rayleigh_LitAp Yes I had trouble getting used to it but I've had it a while and really like it. I prefer it over my phone. Only thing I don't care for is that it's all black and white and the book covers can't be fully appreciated 🙁 8y
MaleficentBookDragon I'm #booklingual too. I prefer trade paperbacks but I do ❤️ my paperwhite. It is so much easier to read on than the Fire. I do miss the color covers though. 8y
Zenquilter I'm a total ebook snob. I read on my iPad. I love having my whole library in my hand! And it makes reading in bed so much easier! 8y

Yet despite the harshness and demands of life, kindness persists. A slow and determined message of hope riding along a superhighway of reactivity and emotion, each small kindness given or received is evidence that life is worthwhile.
