As a #longtimefed I‘ve seen staff cuts before. Now I‘m seeing some stunning “whataboutism,” comparing the Clinton-Gore cuts to what DOGE is doing.

Though my agency at the time was minimally affected, I had issues with the initiative.
-Government as a business
-OPM staff laid off during the process
-Increased reliance on contractors

However, there was a logic and process to it. Employees were treated with empathy, which is apparently now a sin.

marleed I am sickened at the thought of how long it will take for empathy to become the norm. This admin cracks its self up over who can deliver the next cruel and spiteful line - in this country and across the world. I hope the courts have the intestinal fortitude to act as a barrier to this cruelty. 2w
Leftcoastzen Musk quote on Empathy “The fundamental weakness of Western Civilization is empathy.” And if you have read anything about Donald you know he never had any. 2w
