Fearless wretch
Insanity
He watches
Lurking beneath the sea
Timeless sleep
Has been upset
He awakens
Hunter of the shadows is rising
Immortal
In madness you dwell

Definitely not his best, but definitely his best known. Still very enjoyable.

I‘m not a fan of Lovecraft, but this was worth a chortle or two. 🦑

This was interesting but I feel kind of let down? The made up mythology is super intriguing but the writing was kind of boring? Just feel really so-so about this one.
I don't like hiding Cthulu for the holidays... so I made him a scarf & now we have a Christmas Cthulu! 🤣 I know, I'm not well... LOL
@CareBear, thought you'd appreciate this!
Maybe it's because I just finished Call of Cthulhu, but these holiday lights seriously look like tentacles coming up out of the earth to me.
3/5
I think I'm more of a fan of Lovecraftian inspired stories than actual Lovecraft. The premise is interesting, if told in a very different style than it would be today, and I never felt hooked by the story. Mostly the narrator tells you how horrifying everything is rather than letting you feel it.
I also find it impossible to separate the work from the author's xenophobia and racism, which obviously affects my feelings on it.
I just made a discovery. They have some interesting things on this site.

Just started this as part of my #LitsyPartyOfOne on serial reads.
Good not great, but so glad I read this do I better understand The Night Ocean!
I seem to do better with short reads on Serial Reader, so I'm giving this a try. H.P Lovecraft is pretty hit or miss with me, but I do recall reading a story of his that involved an army of cats?
Finished my first serial reader! Although I'm not sure what I read LOL this was my first foray into Lovecraft. I know what Cthulhu is now.
Pumpkin carving time, and my attempted at a rough Cthulhu inspired pumpkin. 🎃
So happy that @SerialReader added The Call of Cthulhu. Somehow seems appropriate these days.(need a Cthulhu sticker, I think.)
