The Next Mrs. Parrish
The Next Mrs. Parrish: A Novel | Liv Constantine
24 posts | 24 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
Daphne and Amber Parrish are thrust back into each others lives upon the resurgence of a long-forgotten threat, forcing a vicious game of cat and mouse where everything is on the line, in this thrilling sequel to the million-copy-bestselling Reeses Book Club pick The Last Mrs. Parrish. Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that shes a prominent socialite, but that doesnt mean there havent been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jacksons tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Ambers timeand moneyis vanishing. Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson Parrish, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer to allow him supervised visits. Once out of prison, Jackson swears hes a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he cant be trusted. When a ghost from Ambers past emerges looking for revenge, the three of them find unlikely allies in one another, but who is playing who? When all is said and done, theyll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game. With shocking turns and entertaining characters, The Next Mrs. Parrish will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about duplicity and betrayal.

I must have had FOMO seeing everyone reading this, I don‘t know what compelled me to even place a library hold for this.. I hated the first book. Not shockingly, I didn‘t love this BUT it was better. The chapters rotate POVs, so I only had to deal with insufferable Amber intermittently, but Daph‘s problems were so much her own doing (talk to your kids!) & the side plots got a bit over the top.

Although not as good as the first of this series this book definitely has a satisfying ending. All the old characters are back Jackson, Amber, Daphne and we are introduced to a new one Daisy Mae. They all become intertwined into one happy ending haha. Well happy for some 😉 Sometimes a book doesn‘t have to tie up loose ends but I think this second novel is justified in that aspect.

Just as twisty as the first one and I was here for it!! Loved every minute I spent in the messed up world of Baileys Harbor!

This was so good! I experienced a lot of anxiety reading it bc I was so worried about Daphne! There are twists and turns along the way but not a major twist like in the 1st book. If you liked the 1st one you will definitely love this one & getting to see the characters again. I recommend reading the prequel The First Shot bc a character featured there is a major character in this one! I‘m eager to hear everyone‘s thoughts on this one!

The story was quite good - it maintains soap opera features, poor decisions, but there were quite a few eye roll galore and cringe moments. I didn‘t dislike the book :)

BkClubCare One of my bookclubs selected this one but I just can‘t 😬 I read the “prequel” and it isn‘t my kind of story. Oh well 5mo

I read piles of mysteries and don‘t always retain their details from one book to the next but for some reason I clearly recalled the story of the last Mrs Parrish and it made it fun to root against Amber once again.

"Regret is a wasted emotion."

I really enjoyed reading this particular one. So many twists you wouldn't see coming. ?? to Liv Constantine.

Amber Parrish's plan to check out the Delacroix painting of Liberty Leading the People at the Louvre in Paris struck me as being appropriate and felicitous given her new found independence and wealth.

This satisfying sequel to THE LAST MRS. PARRISH is maybe even better than the first one!! I absolutely couldn‘t put it down!! It opens a year after the first book, with Daphne and her daughters still safe in FL, Jackson in jail & Amber running out of money, but not schemes. Meanwhile, Amber‘s sordid past tries to catch up with her, heralded by her once-stepdaughter. The plot had me gasping, shaking my head in frustration & completely satisfied! 🤌

Follow up to The First Shot & The Last Mrs. Parrish.

I‘m very happy these authors decided that Daphne & Amber‘s stories weren‘t done. Deceit, secrets & hope run deep in this book. I definitely wasn‘t let down. #ARC

It's been several years since I read the first book in this duology and in the first moment I was instantly back immersed in the multiple POV narrative of this ongoing storyline. Suspense/thriller isn't one of my go-to genres but I felt a deep connection with Daphne on many levels. All I can say is wow, wow, wow! If you are a library borrower- get your holds in now because when this comes out it's going to have a long wait!

I was lucky to get this as an #ARC from #NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. What can I say, this is a drama packed book! It's not really a thriller but more of a domestic suspense but some parts of it triggered me. Especially, the relationship between Daphne and Jackson... Toxic isn't a strong enough word. Still, I love a good real housewives she drama every now and then and this fit the bill. ⭐⭐⭐✨
