The Fifth Witness
The Fifth Witness | Michael Connelly
Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take away her home. Mickey puts his team into high gear to exonerate Lisa Trammel, even though the evidence and his own suspicions tell him his client is guilty. Soon after he learns that the victim had black market dealings of his own, Haller is assaulted, too--and he's certain he's on the right trail. Despite the danger and uncertainty, Haller mounts the best defense of his career in a trial where the last surprise comes after the verdict is in. Connelly proves again why he "may very well be the best novelist working in the United States today" (San Francisco Chronicle).

The reveal in this one is quite effective! I'm enjoying Mickey Haller more than I had been, and I'm glad Connelly is letting him evolve, but I'll still be glad to get back to Bosch.

The fourth Lincoln Lawyer installment got bogged down in the courtroom, but it dropped a nifty twist at the end. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#the-fifth-witness-mickey-haller-4

I knew I could count on Connelly to break the slump I've been in! I love a good courtroom drama and, as with all of the Mickey Haller books, this was top notch 👌🏽

Book #5 in the Lincoln Lawyer/Michael Haller series. A defense attorneys golden rule is to never ask your client if they did it. You don‘t want your client to lie to you. And true innocence is hard to find. I enjoyed this story...so many different pieces and how they were connected & all the different players. Very entertaining & the ending leaves me hanging with how things are going to go for Mickey next.

I‘m a huge fan of Connelly, and this book proves why. The end threw me through a loop and had me questioning everything. His talent is evident. One of the best books I‘ve ever read.

Another great Mickey Haller legal mystery. This time, Mickey is representing a woman accused of murder. As usual, lots of twists and turns in this story.
