If you‘re a Lisbeth Salander fan, you‘ll likely be a fan of Livia Lone as well. She‘s a kick-ass female lead character with a dark past, and she‘s out for revenge. First book in a series. Can‘t wait to read the others!

The plot of this novel is great, but there was a lack of attention to detail that was extremely distracting. Overuse of the phrase “he panted,” the moon being out but it was pouring snow in the same scene, middle and high school kids being at recess...these are a few examples. It ruined an otherwise great novel. 3 out of 5 stars.
Super-thrilling, intense. Dark and gritty. The MC made me think of Lisbeth Salander here and there. She endured unspeakable horrors, then became a policewoman specializing in rape/abuse crimes. Off-duty, she makes certain the rapists and abusers never hurt anyone again. There is definitely a gray area to her heroism but wow, Livia is awesome. I‘ve already bought the second book!
I added the audiobook, narrated by the author, and it is fantastic!!
New bus read today. Yesterday‘s clear blue skies and 30 degree weather have turned into a super smoky sky, forest fires 😞 and what my 7 year old referred to as a blood orange and then laughed for 15 minutes. I hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday!
This was an amazing book! It revolves around human trafficking and child abuse. There is no doubt its dark but has a beauty to it as well. The flow is smooth and you really feel for these characters.I burned through this one fast! if you want a good summer read check this one out.
Loved this book. There are some parts that describe child and adult rape so be warned. But Livia is a great character and for fans of lisbeth Salander like me, you‘ll think of lisbeth more than once. In my fan fiction they‘d be working together.
2 Thai sisters are sold by their parents and shipped in a cargo container to the US. One sister wakes up as the police raid the ship, the other is nowhere to be found. A successful businessman conveniently adopts the girl and re-names her Livia, but his generosity is a front to do terrible things to his adopted child. Livia is a fighter and she will stop at nothing to not only survive but also thrive and find her sister.
Giving this a shot since I downloaded from Prime Reading a couple months ago. I've read great reviews!
Barry Eisler never disappoints, a master of the page-turner who has turned out in Livia Lone a chronicle of the horrors of human trafficking. Livia Lone - her name conjures isolation- was trafficked from Thailand with her younger sister, sold by their parents in early adolescence. The depictions are brutal, the villains out of central casting. Almost no one can be trusted. A top notch tale of vigilante justice with a heartbreaking denouement.
The charger on my laptop broke this morning and my battery died. I have to wait five days for my new charger to arrive, because I needed a break from the news. Made calls, donated money, now I'm going to bury myself in books for a while. I hope you are all taking care of yourself, Littens. ❤️😘📚
Great book. Kick ass main character. Love the fact that the main character wasn't Caucasian or male and was strong and took control of her life. I don't condone some of the things she did but I still loved the character and the book.
