pickEvelyne Redfern is the perfect character to center a historical mystery series around. She is a spunky, smart, avid reader with an intriguing backstory. When she finds the body of a murdered coworker, of course she is going to investigate and do a better job than anyone else and I am going to enjoy every page detailing her progress. This was a really charming start to a series that I am looking forward to continuing.
pickStarted this as an audiobook because I needed something for my drive. Finished it yesterday morning in print. Pretty good for an author‘s first attempt at historical mystery. Well contextualized historical details but I guessed the murderer super early on so it wasn‘t very complex. Appreciated the references to mystery writers and books sprinkled throughout. I‘d give it a 3.5/5

pickCan I just say how much I LOVE Evie? This is the first book in a new mystery series and I'm hooked! I love Julia Kelly as a general rule and I love how she weaves a mystery. Highly recommend this one.

I absolutely loved Evelyn ‘Evie‘ and her determination which led to her detective role🕵🏼♀️ The mystery had a good little twist and kept my interest. The ending was perfect and definitely set up for more in this series! I‘ll for sure be back for more when the next book comes out!
