The Push meets The Silent Patient in a gripping thriller that follows a woman convinced a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens--while the men in her life refuse to believe a word she says. Anna Alcott is desperate to have a family. But as she tries to balance her increasingly public life as an indie actress with a grueling IVF journey, she starts to suspect that someone is going to great lengths to make sure that never happens. Crucial medicines are lost. Appointments get swapped without her knowledge. Cryptic warnings have her jumping at shadows. And despite everything she's gone through to make this pregnancy a reality, not even her husband is willing to believe that someone is playing twisted games with her. Then her doctor tells her she's had a miscarriage--except Anna's convinced she's still pregnant despite everything the grave-faced men around her claim. She can feel the baby moving inside her, can see the strain it's taking on her weakening body. Vague warnings become direct threats as someone stalks her through the bleak ghost town of the snowy Hamptons. As her symptoms and sense of danger grow ever more horrifying, Anna can't help but wonder what exactly she's carrying inside of her...and why no one will listen when she says something is horribly, painfully wrong. DELICATE CONDITION IS: "A twisty, page-turner with unsettling details and crackling writing that's also a timely critique of sexism in modern medicine." --Andrea Bartz, New York Times bestselling author of WE WERE NEVER HERE "A spooky, devour-in-one-sitting story that's guaranteed to have everyone talking."--Leah Konen, author of YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME "A frightening, propulsive read brimming with brutal truths about motherhood, autonomy, and the everyday horror of not being believed. This twisty horror thriller will have you guessing until the staggering end." --Rachel Harrison, National Bestselling author of CACKLE and SUCH SHARP TEETH "Beautifully written, unbearably tense, and deeply scary. A modern fairy tale that asks what we'd be willing to sacrifice for the thing we want most." --Katie Gutierrez, National Bestselling author of MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW

5-25-24: My 14th finished book of 2024! I finished this at my daughter‘s house laying next to my 3 month old granddaughter and it was creepy to say the least. Don‘t read it while pregnant. Actress Anna Alcott is going through IVF with her husband Dex when things become weird. Anna can‘t trust anyone, her agent, her best friend or her doctor. Everyone wants a piece of her. There might even be a cult involved. Anna just wants her baby to be safe.

5-22-24: My new outdoor reading nook. My husband set it up for me on Mother‘s Day but today was the first day I could try it out and it was glorious. Reading outside is my favorite, preferably the beach, but this is perfect, as well. I‘m so glad my husband gets me. 📖💖😍

Bookwomble I'm going to have a final attempt at getting into the tagged, but it needs to grip me soon or it will be a DNF 🫤 13mo
BoleyBooks @Bookwomble -I totally get that. I finally hit the twist and it definitely changes the tone of the whole story. Almost finished and onto the next selection. 🤓📚 13mo

Wow, this was one weird book! Yet another book to not read if you are trying to get pregnant. The descriptions can be terrifying. Anna is desperate to have a baby & after multiple rounds of IVF she finally has success but then very strange things start to happen to her body, weird people start to appear, & Anna‘s starts to believe everyone around her does not want her pregnant. Some crazy stuff in this that will ramp up your anxiety as you read.

Jjaxn95 I‘ve been wanting to read this since the current season of AHS is based off of this !! 13mo
Bec_lectic @Jjaxn95 yes it is!! I‘ve watched a few episodes and it‘s ok but of course they‘ve taken their own liberties to adapt the story for tv. 13mo

Catching up on the first 3 eps of the new season of American Horror Story — this season is actually based on the tagged book. Very Rosemary‘s Baby indeed. Fits in with the Joe Hill novella I finished earlier today. #Scarathlon #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall

FlynnDewey The first time I watched AHS Asylum, I didn't really care for it. On a rewatch, I realized I liked it a lot. I've missed a few, so I'm hoping to get caught up at some point. 1y
Melismatic @FlynnDewey it‘s def more miss than hit for me but some seasons really work. Jury is still out for this season though. 1y

This book was unnerving, but I couldn't stop listening to it. If books about infertility or pregnancy are triggers for you, then avoid this thriller.

The emotional complexity of the main character really impressed me and added a level of suspense to the story that I wasn't expecting.

There were gaps at the end that I wanted more details about, but overall, it was a fast-paced thriller that was perfect for #Scarathlon. @Clwojick #SpookyGhostClub

This was…wild. I was in the middle of this when I started watching the 1st episode of the new season of American Horror Story and thought “wow, this sounds familiar” 🤣. Lo and behold the season is based on this book, and I can see why they would do that because this has that horrific, off the wall feel of the show. It wasn‘t groundbreaking but was twisty and odd and I really enjoyed the ending! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc! Anna is desperate for a baby, and she‘s convinced someone is doing everything they can to stop her from getting pregnant. What I thought would be a psychological thriller quickly became a pregnancy horror story! Definitely check TW before picking up! 3/5

BooksNBowls Also, did they inspire the new season of AHS after this book because it is eerily similar 😳 1y

5⭐
This book is the basis for the new season of American Horror Story…and I might have to watch it…because this was so good. In a sea of mediocrity, this book really stood out. It had great pacing, and some hella creepy moments, and I didn‘t predict that ending, not even a little bit.
- Hilary Huber was fantastic in this…I know some don‘t care for her narration but I like her.

KT1432 I love the graphic and I hate I waited to read this one! I‘ll have to get to it soon! 1y

Book 162🎧 3.7⭐️

Very creepy! I had myself questioning who it was the entire time!

It did end on a less spookier note than I had thought it would but I think that was for the best on such a sensitive topic!

Wow! This book is definitely one of my favorites I‘ve read so far this year. There were definitely some scenes that were hard to read but this book was so good! I read it in two sittings because it just sucked me in and I couldn‘t put it down.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC copy to review. It was a great read!

Okay maybe its me but there‘s something off about Dex. He‘s giving off gaslighting vibes. Yes, I‘m 55 pages into this story but still..
