Hoping it‘s a slow day at work so I can sneak some reading in today.
This book reminded me of a fairy tale. There was a bit of magic, and a touch of love. Some of the characters were kind, and some were evil. It was two stories that came together to make one. It may or may not have ended happily ever after (no spoilers!). As an added plus, this book was about books. Want kind of a reader wouldn‘t love that! I am glad I selected this book from Amazon‘s First Reads.
“The number of lives we are capable of living is limited only by the number of books we choose to read.—Ashlyn Greer, The Care & Feeding of Old Books”
To lose oneself in the pages of a book is often to find oneself. —Ashlyn Greer, The Care & Feeding of Old Books
Attention all bibliophiles! 🤓 I was drawn in by the beautiful cover and the premise of doomed love and the dual timelines of 1941 and 1984. Ashlyn, who restores old books in her inherited bookstore in 1984, can feel the emotions of the previous owners when she touches a book. She stumbles on 2 old books that appear never to have been published, his and hers stories about a doomed love affair in 1941. She soon becomes absorbed in their stories ⬇️
The Echo of Old Books by Barbara Davis. I wish this advanced digital copy showed a picture of the cover, it's what 1st drew me to this book! Ashlyn owns a rare bookstore and through another friend she discovers a pair of beautifully bound books that seem to be connected but appear to never have been published. Her gift of psychometry compels her to pursue the books origins and leads her on a journey of discovery. Along this (cont in comments)...
I really liked the premise of this book, but the title is misleading because this about two specific books. I‘d have loved it more if there were many books that spoke to Ashlyn. The story of Belle and Hemi is intriguing, and I enjoyed it. Dual timelines, the gift of psychometry, and a horrid villain made for a great read. Book #23 2023
From the author of THE KEEPER OF HAPPY ENDINGS and THE LAST OF THE MOON GIRLS comes a very endearing, heartwarming and heartbreaking story. A story of a love that should have been.

BOOKS ABOUT BOOKS - HISTORICAL FICTION - MYSTERY
Finding books that have no author had Ashlyn on a mission to find out who had written these treasures about a love story gone wrong.
THE ECHO OF OLD BOOKS has the imaginative, descriptive, pull-you-in writing style Ms. Davis excels at.
You will be in for a treat...don't miss it.
