pickI loved this book. I got completely wrapped up in it and cried when it ended both because it was sad and because it was over. I'm curious, for anyone else who has read this, did you wonder if "Magnum, P.I." was something Sam watched? I don't think I've ever in my life thought about a TV show a fictional character would enjoy, but I think she would have for it's Vietnam references. Also, why is every cover of this book worse than the last?

Let's take a book and music detour to the 80s. A friend of mine put on some R.E.M. the other day and when Orange #Crush came on we were like, "What does this mean?" So I looked it up and it's actually about the use of Agent Orange in the Vietnam War. Forever linking things to books, it made me remember In Country. I think that since this book was written in the mid-80s it's fallen off the radar a bit - so I'm bringing it back #crush #augustgrrrl
Lillian Hellman, Anne Lamott, Anna Quindlen, Ann Patchett, Anne Tyler, JoJo Moyes and Bobbie Ann Mason are just some of my favorite #womenwriters (lots of Anns :) In Country is one of my overall forever favorite books. #somethingforsept
