I was really gladdened by this statistic - I worried it would be much lower. ❤️
📚 I read fiction to escape, not always to a nicer place, but to see new worlds. I read non-fiction to learn more about the world I'm in.
📚 My mother inspired me to read because she gave me the freedom to find my own taste in books, not push one kind or another like schools do/did.
📚 Every chance I get, usually early morning or late at night, less distractions.

Why do you read? 😃
I had been thinking about subscribing to Book of the Month for a while. The pricing wasn't bad, but with how tight our budget is with the upcoming wedding, I didn't want to risk it. But then on my birthday, my wonderful fiancé gifted me a six-month subscription! Can you guess what my July pick was? :)

What Proust is describing is an act of self-discovery on the part of his reader. Immersing herself in Proust, the reader may encounter aspects of herself that, while they have perhaps been in existence for a long time, have remained unnamed, undescribed, and therefore in a certain sense unknown. One might say that the reader learns the language of herself.
