this vivid and prolific writing of Ingrid Betancourt is intoxicating!
Picked this book because I had read Betancourt's memoir of her six years as a hostage of the FARC. I was not disappointed by her first foray into fiction! An interesting perspective (MC is a Montonero during Argentina's dirty war), and very exciting/terrifying at times, but an unremarkable ending.
Set in 1970s Argentina w/ elements of magical realism, this novel explores hope, freedom, & fate in an era of revolution. Despite mixed reviews, I'm curious. The author was herself held as a political hostage in Columbia for over 6 years.
