Loved this book all the way up to the last chapter. I did enjoy the last chapter but felt like tone and story wise it didn‘t fit the rest of the book. Still highly recommend it. Beautiful writing overall, it felt like sitting around a campfire.

definitely, a collection of stories to re-read. an ode to friendships.
This is lovely. Highly recommend. And look at this fun cover. 😍 Interlocking stories follow 4 Nigerian friends through life. My fav is actually narrated by a house maid. Plus the one at the end is speculative future and also great. In case you needed extra incentive.
I have a weakness for interconnected short stories & this debut is a beaut. Each story stands on its own, yet the carefully crafted sum is even greater than the parts. I love the ambitious scope, beginning in 1897 & ending in 2050; the kaleidoscopic POVs; that actions have consequences; the settings that range from Nigeria to Poland to the USA; and a cast of characters that centers four girls who meet at boarding school.
[2050] Dele is doing well in film production since his post-quarterback career as a sports announcer ended, after American football finally got banned. He is getting yearly brain scans and diagnostic tests for the tau proteins that signal the presence of the Alzheimer‘s-like disease that‘s taken many of his teammates. Unlike the old days, now it can be treated and progression of the disease stopped if caught early.
Jollof Rice and Other Revolutions is the book I wish to receive if chosen.

5⭐️ to this novel in stories about four girls that meet at a Nigerian boarding school. I was deeply attached to these characters, and I love how she began deep in one girl‘s family tree during colonial times before the title story that binds the girls as friends for life. Later stories follow the women as they move to the US, marry, and have children. She expertly weaves in the impact of real-world events before ending their stories in 2050.
This collection is so well done, and I absolutely would recommend. It‘s still emotional, but not in an overwhelming “I need to set the book down for a bit”, more of a testament to the authors ability to bring the characters to life and connect us to them. Beautiful.
Interlocking short stories about childhood friends from a boarding school in Nigeria that weaves through their lives afterward. Each story improved upon the last, leaving with the last that sealed a 5 star rating. Great pace, characters, and connections. Wonderful!
This book follows four friends in tightly linked short stories (that work as a novel) from childhood into adulthood. It‘s interesting to watch them go from Nigeria to other parts of the world and back again. The emotional pacing of the book is fantastic. This was a 5⭐️ read for me and I can‘t recommend it enough.
Great novel about 3 friends and their lives. I enjoyed how each chapter was from a different perspective and the endurance of their friendship. Highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
Read part of it while riding my bike. 😃
