The latest in the New York Times bestselling Cork OConnor Mystery Series from the master storyteller (Kristin Hannah, #1 New York Times bestselling author) follows Cork in a race against time to save his wife, a mysterious stranger, and an Ojibwe healer from bloodthirsty mercenaries. The ancient Ojibwe healer Henry Meloux has had a vision of his death. As he walks the Northwoods in solitude, he tries to prepare himself peacefully for the end of his long life. But peace is destined to elude him as hunters fill the woods seeking a woman named Dolores Morriseau, a stranger who had come to the healer for shelter and the gift of his wisdom. Meloux guides this stranger and his great niece, Cork OConnors wife, to safety deep into the Boundary Waters, his home for more than a century. On the last journey he may ever take into this beloved land, Meloux must do his best to outwit the deadly mercenaries who follow. Meanwhile, in Aurora, Cork works feverishly to identify the hunters and the reason for their relentless pursuit, but he has little to go on. Desperate, Cork begins tracking the killers but his own skills as a hunter are severely tested by nightfall and a late season snowstorm. He knows only too well that with each passing hour time is running out. But his fiercest enemy in this deadly game of cat and mouse may well be his own deep self-doubt about his ability to save those he loves. From an author who never disappoints (Bookreporter), this is another gripping and richly told addition to a masterful series.

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

Another good book by William Kent Krueger. This wasn‘t one of my favorites by this author, but it was very good. The settings he described were beautiful. The mystery portion kept me guessing until the end. It wasn‘t so much “who did it” as it was “why”. I will certainly be reading more if this authors books.

Fox Creek is a bit different-written in present tense with a lot of characters, both familiar and new. This is not the last book-there May be 2 more O‘Connor books in the works!!

I‘ve read alllll of the “Cork” books and this is a solid installment. My only issue is it‘s a little “been there” as far as Cork, the setting, and running from something in the Minnesota wilderness, but it‘s also why I enjoy Krueger‘s books so how can I complain? It‘s how Aurora wound up on my bucket list. Full review ScrappyMags.com

I liked this book…but my question is…how many in a series is too many. This is number 19…thoughts?
My review is up!

Amiable Good question! I used to read a series by Nevada Barr —I enjoyed the first books immensely but by #17 or so I was like “enough already.” 🙄 2y
Reecaspieces @Amiable I agree. Totally! But I guess if it still sells 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y
FortunateSon Definitely depends on the series. I'm a big fan of Connelly's Harry Bosch series, but Bosch has got to be in his mid 70s by now so it might be time to let that character go. 2y
Reecaspieces @FortunateSon ha! I love that series too! And yep…it‘s time for him to retire 2y

EadieB This is book 19 in the Cork O'Connor series. I have read all the other books and have loved them too. The characters feel so real and the plot is an excellent story to keep the pages turning until the very end. I am now looking forward to the next installment. I am thankful to NetGalley and Atria Books for a copy for an honest review. (edited) 2y
Andrew65 I need to get to this series. 2y
