Tonight‘s reading
It took me a little while to get into this one, but it‘s worth the push through. It eventually turns into the fast-paced, page-turning Wendy Walker style and delivers!

No doubt Wendy Walker is a fantastic author. Her books keep you turning the pages and holding your breath all the way through. No different with this one.
This book is about an autistic girl named Charlie who is only seventeen years old. She wants to get away from this town and is working hard saving to do just that. She is going to MIT and has the grades for it.

This author is an auto read for me. I love her mysteries because I don't usually figure them out in advance of the reveal. This one is nice and twisty with a semi unreliable narrator.

Love her books and this is no exception! Charlie is a young autistic girl working in a sandwich shop when the owner and ruthless businessman, Coop is murdered one night. Many questions surface as the body was moved and there are plenty of suspects who wanted him dead. It‘s a wonderfully convoluted story of a town and what people will do to maintain it and keep its secrets intact!

For the most part, this book is narrated by Paige Layle, who is Autistic, just like the MC in the story is. Every so often there is a chapter that is narrated by a full-cast with sound effects. The mystery at work here relies heavily on the MC not telling us everything that she saw that night, despite the fact that she knew all along. That doesn't usually work for me. Still, overall, I found being in Charlie‘s head interesting & even educational.
