From the bestselling author of In an Instant comes a heartrending story about the power of friendship during the most challenging moments in life. It's been eight years since a tragic accident changed Mo Kaminski's and Chloe Miller's lives forever. Now in their midtwenties, they're sharing an apartment in San Francisco and navigating the normal challenges of early adulthood. Along with their roommate, Hazel, they are making their marks on the world--Mo revolutionizing the news with her media start-up, Hazel using her big brain to anticipate the future, and Chloe rescuing abandoned strays in the city. But when Hazel disappears after being sexually assaulted, Mo's and Chloe's lives are again suddenly ripped apart. And when the perpetrator turns up drugged and beaten, the mystery of where Hazel is deepens. Intensely worried and desperate to discover the truth, they set out to find Hazel and bring her home.Mo and Chloe are no strangers to tragedy, but this journey will test them in ways they never imagined. The stakes are high; the future uncertain; the need for justice essential. Will their commitment to their friend bring them closer together--or ultimately drive them apart?

Bailedbailed

When a author doesn‘t do basic research on a profession, especially my profession, I get pissed.

Vets do NOT
1. Give dogs ibuprofen
2. Carry controlled substances in their purses
3. Sedate a dog at least six times in three days and
a) wonder why they‘re not eating (pro tip: too much sedation!)
b) leave a sedated dog unattended in a parked mobile vet hospital for hours
4. Risk their license to poison a police officer

HARD PASS!

Soubhiville I agree with you so much! Pet peeve for me too. Also when a dog is a big part of a story and the MC is doing things every dog owner knows better than to do- such as sharing chocolate with it. 2y
Texreader OMG I had a similar reaction about an author describing how an investigator interrogates a witness. It was so messed up I had to bail. Unbelievable… 2y
Cinfhen Yikes!!! That‘s pretty infuriating 😡🤬😡 2y

ju.ca.no Ohh that‘s so annoying 🙄 2y
TrishB Definitely a pass. Always annoying. 2y
TrishB @Soubhiville yes that always bothers me! Our dog gets a bit of cheese occasionally but no other human ‘treats‘ as it just upsets her stomach. 2y
Megabooks @Soubhiville ugh, yes!! I mean, I can‘t imagine dog owners not knowing about ibuprofen, much less a trained vet!! And she kept on setting up iv fluid for the dog, and I was thinking, well if you‘d let her be awake for more than 20 minute, maybe she‘d drink!! 🙄🙄 2y
Megabooks @Texreader when it‘s your job/field it is so much more annoying when the author writes something egregious! 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen @ju.ca.no yup!! 💯💯 2y
Megabooks @TrishB for sure!! When the dog finally ate, it was fries! And dog owners know not to give treats like chocolate that can be poisonous. I mean gosh! 2y
ShelleyBooksie That would have driven me nuts as well! The worst part is that people read these things and even though it's fiction they then think it's OK for their pets - dangerous foolishness. 2y
Megabooks @ShelleyBooksie yes, I feel not only can it give people bad ideas, some of her actions reflect poorly on the profession if people believe that‘s really how we are. 2y
jlhammar What! That's crazy. 2y
Megabooks @jlhammar it was wild! I just couldn‘t take it anymore! 2y

Pickpick

I forgot this was a sequel, of sorts, from Redfearn‘s book In An Instant. I really liked that one, and this one too! The decisions made by these twenty something year old women drive me nuts, but the story was darn good. Compelling and emotional, heartwarming friendship and heartbreak. I‘m a Redfearn fan and will read everything she publishes! Book #36 in 2022

Latest audiobook... I grabbed this book before realizing it was a follow-up to In An Instant, which I really enjoyed. There's no mention in the synopsis of this book relating to that one. So far so good. 22% in.
