Special Agent Pendergast-one of the most original, compelling characters in all of contemporary fiction-returns in Preston and Child's new exhilarating novel BLUE LABYRINTHA long-buried family secret has come back to haunt Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast. It begins with murder. One of Pendergast's most implacable, most feared enemies is found on his doorstep, dead. Pendergast has no idea who is responsible for the killing, or why the body was brought to his home. The mystery has all the hallmarks of the perfect crime, save for an enigmatic clue: a piece of turquoise lodged in the stomach of the deceased. The gem leads Pendergast to an abandoned mine on the shore of California's Salton Sea, which in turn propels him on a journey of discovery deep into his own family's sinister past. But Pendergast learns there is more at work than a ghastly episode of family history: he is being stalked by a subtle killer bent on vengeance over an ancient transgression. And he soon becomes caught in a wickedly clever plot, which leaves him stricken in mind and body, and propels him toward a reckoning beyond anything he could ever have imagined....

This is the 14th book in the Pendergast series. In this one, a dead body is left on Pendergast's doorstep, and his family history comes back to bite him 💙

My plan for #SeriesLove2024 is to finish the Pendergast novels by Preston and Child. And then move on to another series of theirs.

I really thought they were going to kill off their lead detective In this one. Pendergast‘s enemy son is killed and left on his doorstep. As he tries to solve that murder, he himself gets poisoned. I don‘t know if it was the subject matter or my hectic life, but the story seemed to drag in a couple spots. Still worth the read. Very creepy.

I'm finding these books get a little more absurd in each installment. Maybe it's just as a culmination of all of the ridiculousness over the course of the series. The idea that there are so many over the top villains with these elaborate plots. It's just a bit much after so many books. I also didn't like Pendergast in this one. I realize there was reason for his behavior, but still. This one wasn't bad. I'm just not enjoying them as much.

Twainy I want them to go back to the Relic & Cabinet of Curiosity days. The Pendergast wife, his ward, brother … blech. I want more supernatural X-files sorta stories …. They‘ve been hit or miss for me as time goes by. The new one was great (terrible narrator though) 3y
Traci1 @Twainy I hated the wife and brother ones. Relic was amazing. I'm enjoying the ones about Corrie and Nora more than the Pendergast ones. 3y

Another white knuckle adventure with Agent Pendergast. There were parts of this one that made me glad I was not eating and other parts that had me shouting, “NOOOOO!” It is hard to say much more about this book without giving anything away, so let‘s just say that I once again take issue with the authors trying their damndest to kill off my favorite FBI agent. This is by far my favorite mystery/thriller/horror series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

LeslieO I love Pendergast! 4y

Intense fast paced detective thriller. Prendergast's family's past evil comes to terrorize him. I think you need to have read the previous books in the series to fully appreciate this one. Warning: it is violent with descriptions of gory deaths and slight sexual abuse

Suelizbeth I am just in the last 100 or so pages. I‘m doing a catch up so I‘m ready for the new one. It‘s a definite read in order kind of series. 💀 4y

Book #14 in the Agent Pendergast series was quite unique. A lot more in depth into the history of the Pendergast line as well as his son too. Some long-earned revenge as well as penance.

I love the Pendergast series. So when the quarantine started I vowed to start reading again and of course picked this book which is the next in the series I needed to read. Seriously cannot get enough or the twists and turns that Pendergast novels have. Now on the next one!!!

The fourteenth book about Pendergast. And again he will come into battle with a strong enemy. Will the series of books about Pendergast ever end?

rubyslippersreads Not as long as it‘s making money. 😂 Welcome to Litsy! 7y

Book 14 of the Pendergast series. Pendergast shows he is human by almost dying. He also loses one of his sons to the man who poisoned him.

I liked this one a lot. After a stretch of books feeling like they didn't belong in the series, I feel like Preston and Child are getting back to the crux of Pendergast.

Constance Greene just killed a man by adding acid to a pool of water, then tricked him into putting his hand in the water. What a badass.

Met Preston & Child at the 2015 BEA. After waiting in a long line to meet them - one of them was super nice, and the other one was on the phone the entire time. Even during the photo 😂

Want to say this didn't affect my opinion of the book, but it did take a little extra time to pull this one out of the TBR pile.

Dragon Was it Preston or Child on the phone? 8y
