Good murder mystery about a retired cop trying to solve a case he never cracked. I know Iceland was last month but just now getting around to posting. #foodandlit @Texreader @Catsandbooks

The real tragedy of global warming: you can't just drop a body into a glacier crevasse and assume it will stay hidden anymore. What is this world coming to when a hard working murderer in Iceland can't count on ice to hide a victim? #foodandlit @Texreader @Catsandbooks
... there used to be a Ríki - one of the very few state off-licences in Reykjavík - on the street....the alcohol had been kept behind the counter and the place used to be packed with a heaving throng on Friday afternoons, before it closed for the weekend. ... The crowd used to spill out onto the pavement, and people would push and shove until the crush at the counter was almost unbearable.... In those days the sale of beer was illegal...
The first in a new series featuring Detective Konrád. It felt a little bit Rebussy in a way because Konrád is retired but gets pulled into a case from his days on the force. Solid mystery.
3 1/2 stars.
I am a big fan of Nordic fiction. I love the descriptions of the icy scenery, it is so different from where I live. Life in a cold climate has it's own set of challenges. A frozen body is found on a glacier, and turns out to be a missing person from 30 years ago. How can you even begin to solve the mystery. Former Detective Konrad makes it his mission to uncover the truth. A little convoluted but good.
