I managed to get to two more bookstores today. Heading home tomorrow.
Made it to a couple bookstores today (of the seven on my list). Hope to get to a couple more before we head home on Sunday. Yes, I bought books in both.
Serendipity! This was my pick for the letter M.#alphabetgame # letterM
Today I was going through emails & opened this newsletter from The New Yorker, celebrating Mavis Gallant‘s Centennial. I hope you all can open it up.

I will call this a pick even though I didn't finish the collection. What I read, I liked, especially the Linnet Muir stories.
"She went to bed early every night and read detective novels. She was in bed before nine unless an official reason kept her from going."
Sounds like a solid life plan to me!
Heading to Montréal for a whirlwind visit -- my parents went up yesterday from Toronto, and I am joining them today ? So naturally I had to continue my tradition of geographically appropriate reading.
Unfortunately it's not practical to get #LostInFrance when you live in the U.S. and have only a 4-day vacation. But getting lost in Montreal is the next best thing- we greatly enjoyed all the delicious food, beautiful architecture, and rich culture. Didn't get to as many literary attractions as I'd hoped, but La Grande Bibliotheque library was incredible. Thanks again @tournevis @CouronneDhiver @LeahBergen for the recommendations!
This was an enjoyable short story collection. I regret that I engaged with it as an audiobook because I found myself losing track of what was going on at points and I think that was more about me than the stories. I might revisit it in print. Lovely to insights into Montreal over time.
Decided last minute to go on a road trip to Montreal for Labor Day weekend! I've never been and always wanted to. Have any of you Littens been there? Anything fun you would recommend?
Oh, and now I need to figure out what book(s) to bring...
Quebecois littens, I‘m looking for bookish suggestions for my upcoming trip to Montreal! Any favorite bookstores or libraries to visit? I‘ll be there in a few weeks. Thanks!!
Live from Montreal my belated #Recommendsday is this gorgeous collection by my #www Mavis Gallant. A friend mailed me this right after I had moved from Montreal to Stockholm and while they didn't help my homesickness, I absolutely adored these perceptive and brilliantly written stories.
