In the tagged novel, a young widow in 1946 comes across a suitcase & inside are a stack of photos of twelve young women working as undercover agents to combat the Nazis & #LostInFrance & presumed captured & killed. This weekend "Carve Her Name with Pride" was a Kindle Deal & it's about real life heroine, Violette Szabo, one of the inspirations for the novel, who parachuted into Limoges & was later caught & executed by the Germans.

Layla‘s been touring with her band in Europe. She‘s tired, cranky, uninspired and under pressure from her mgmt. She gets notified that an elderly relative has left her a piece of land in the south of France so she ditches her responsibilities to go check it out for a few days. She gets lost, finds an even crankier Frenchman... 💕🌹💕

I didn‘t get #lostinfrance but nearly did get lost in Belgium, thanks to winding cobblestone streets and a tour guide going at breakneck speed. The beer didn‘t help either. #wanderingjune

Montreal Stories | Mavis Gallant

Unfortunately it's not practical to get #LostInFrance when you live in the U.S. and have only a 4-day vacation. But getting lost in Montreal is the next best thing- we greatly enjoyed all the delicious food, beautiful architecture, and rich culture. Didn't get to as many literary attractions as I'd hoped, but La Grande Bibliotheque library was incredible. Thanks again @tournevis @CouronneDhiver @LeahBergen for the recommendations!
