This is really lush❤️ There's a cute little love story at the heart of it, but what I really loved was the insight into Vietnamese culture/food. Looovely stuff🙌

Has anyone else been so stressed out the last few days that they're having trouble reading? I've sat down with this book a dozen times and have still only made it 20 pages in. 😕
Reading is supposed to be my escape from all of this...
Starting my final #LMPBC book for this round! This one looks cute, so it should be a pretty quick read. My goal is to have it in the mail by the end of the week.

This one was super fun! Great pick, @Shadowfat
I will get this in the mail soon! #lmpbc @GondorGirl @peanutnine
Realized that I never posted a review on this #LMPBC book. It was a sweet YA play on Romeo and Juliet, with two kids from rivalling family restaurants. I liked the insight into vietnamese food and culture 🍚🇻🇳
My hold for this audiobook came in, so I‘m starting it today and will just fill in my notes when the paper copy gets to me 😊

Two pho restaurants, two families at odds, two teens who think their parents are being ridiculous and decide to put the past behind them as they try to be true to themselves and their own hopes and dreams. A fun YA story that touches on immigration, culture, shared history, tradition, family and friendship.
This was a cute story about 2 teens whose parents own rival restaurants who end up getting closer despite the risk. I finished this last week and mailed it today to you @peanutnine , sorry for the delay! @GondorGirl @Johanna414 #lmpbc Group J
I am really surprised by the depth of this one! It portrays incredibly well how the children of immigrants experience confusion, guilt and pressure when choosing their own paths that often do not match their parents' expectations or values. Or how it feels to be brought up in a very different way than most of your friends.
Totally hits home and it feels very universal.
Sorry it's taken me so long Group J, I realized I needed to buy some romance options to pick from! Let me know which of these sounds the best/you haven't read. @peanutnine @Johanna414 @GondorGirl #lmpbc
A modern day retelling of Romeo and Juliet but with two children of Vietnamese immigrants with rival restaurants?? Honestly, I kind of just bought this for the food descriptions (I was not disappointed). This was a very cute read with good characters and plot. It was especially good for a debut novel (I never would have guessed!). 4⭐️
Super cute high school romance, Romeo and Juliet vibes. Loved the description of Vietnamese food!
Bao and Linh are from feuding families. Both sets of parents left Vietnam and only want their best for their children. They own competing restaurants but a chance encounter leads them both to wonder what took them both so long to connect.
This is a smart, current rom-com that delves into family histories.
Lots of delicious sounding food described in the book so don‘t read it if you are hungry!
My only negative thing to point out is the pacing.
All‘s fair in love, war and noodles! Heard some great things about this book. Sat in the garden with iced water and soaking up some 32c sun rays (in the shade of course 🌴)
5/5 for this cute one! This was such a cute story. I loved it. Linh and Bao are great characters. This is was like a Vietnamese Romeo and Juliet and was all kinds of perfect. I highly recommend!
Forbidden love. Rivalling Vietnamese restaurants. Family secrets. Teens learning to be who they are and stand up for what they believe in.
This was such a sweet love story. I absolutely adore these characters. Filled with yummy food references and a great story I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to smile.
The Globe & Mail has an article in today‘s paper with Valentine reading suggestions. I want them all ❤️❤️❤️
I had an ALC of this (thanks to Libro.fm)
It‘s a charming story. I loved the families of these two characters. A perfect read for a cold Sunday afternoon. (And now I want someone to take me to eat pho who knows what to order.) #24in48
