Plunge (Hill House Comics)
Plunge (Hill House Comics) | Joe Hill
4 posts | 3 read | 4 to read
A distress signal goes out from a ghost ship that's been lost for over forty years...but what the salvage team finds upon their arrival will haunt them for the rest of their lives. New York Times bestselling author Joe Hill tempts you to explore the wreckage and discover where ghost stories start. The Carpenter Salvage team, accompanied by a Marine Biologist eager to retrieve lost data and a company man looking to protect information and assets, are sent to recover what remains of the Derleth. But when they arrive and begin exploration of the ship and the island it crashed next to--they discover something much more menacing than they could've ever expected. There's something down in the icy darkness of the Arctic sea...something that doesn't want to be found. Unlike on land, where terror shows itself as the long-lost crew of the Derleth emerges from caves. They seem as though they haven't aged a day--it's as if they're exactly the same as the day they disappeared...except they're all missing their eyes. Will the salvage crew survive to bring their findings to shore? What danger waits for them if they fail? What dangers await us all should they succeed?

123/150 I'll be the first to admit I'm no fan of Joe Hill, I've yet to finish any book he's written. Surprisingly, I did enjoy this mix of sci-fi and Lovecraftian horror. I especially like the clever in-jokes (I won't spoil them because its IYKYK), and the intense graphic violence and body horror were done with style. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

5th book finished for #NovelNovember

RamsFan1963 For those that want to know, the ship is called the Derleth, named after famous horror/Lovecraftian author August Derleth, several characters are named for characters in John Carpenter's The Thing, and the captain is even named Captain Carpenter. 13mo

Plunge is OVERDUE! No late fees but bad library patron behaviour 😕 Whiskers approves my decision to read this quickly.

Plunge by Joe Hill, illustrated by Stuart Immonen, is a horror graphic novel about a recovery project gone very, very wrong. The project should have been relatively easy, but what the team is about to discover more than just the shipwreck and research.

Plunge is the best horror graphic novel that I have read in a very long time. I highly recommend checking this one out!
