Great book. Read it with my teenagers. Lots of history you won't learn in school. Don't just be not-racist, be anti-racist!

I read this book after a colleague of mine had her class read it in U.S. History. Written for a young audience and so much history in 240 pages, left me wanting more, which is the point! I can see my middle school niece loving it.

This one has been on my to-read list for awhile. I‘m so glad @JackOBotts had it on the #nywd22 #newyearwhodis list prompting me to finally pick it up.

All the praise for this one is well deserved. Some of this I knew, some of it was new to me and all of it was written with passion and humor. I will likely be purchasing a copy for my own shelves and I‘ve told my son he should read this as well.

Received my #bhms #blitsyswap from the wonderful @Endowarrior21 today! Can‘t wait to open it.

There is soooo much that I wasn‘t taught in history classes, textbooks. So much. There‘s been a massive cover up, and it‘s all exposed now. Shameful, that any of it ever happened. But what‘s more shameful, is now the powerful leaders don‘t want us to know or talk about it. Highly recommend this one! Turned out, freedom in America was like quicksand. It looked solid until a Black person tried to stand on it. Then it became clear it was a sinkhole.

This book is awesome. It is clear and concise, but also funny and just a little cheeky. I can see kids really enjoying this book. Kendi and Reynolds make it very clear that the belief that any group is better or worse is racist. This is not racist against anyone. It mentions white people who hold antiracist views throughout history and black people who hold racist and assimilationist views throughout history. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Brilliant adaptation of Kendi‘s Stamped from the Beginning. Reynolds does a fantastic job taking Kendi‘s text and making it digestible for younger readers without sacrificing impact. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This should be required reading. I look forward to reading some of Reynolds‘ other works. I enjoyed the tone of his writing.

This was absolutely excellent. I learned so much, and have so much left to learn.

I will keep learning, and keep trying to “love fully”, as Jason Reynolds wrote in the Afterword.

A great book to further your antiracist education! Written conversationally with humor and lots of history you never learned in school. A phenomenal, not history, history book.

Normally I don‘t enjoy a book about history, or any nonfiction really. But this book was a great read. I really enjoyed it 4⭐️

I‘m sure you all are sick of me posting about this book, but you guys! 😯 It has so much history in it that we never learned in school. I‘m learning more important things about the presidents and who they were and what their policies were and how those things affected other things with this book than I ever did in school. Possibly, I am older and more interested and this is more meaningful to me now as an adult. However, this is still ⬇️

Wow! This book is fascinating. I wish we had learned this in school. One because it is important and two because it is important. Great narrator and I love the interesting tidbits and definitions.

Finally got my hands on this, I've been waiting to read it. It's a much appreciated gift to my library.

Intended for young adults, this is a good introduction to the racist past of the US and Antiracism. Written conversationally, so I was very engaged. Easily digestible but powerful and leaves you with a lot to reflect on.

A reminder of the importance of #antiracisteducation

I really enjoyed this book, learning some new truths of our country‘s history and exploring how racism has been perpetuated over time to look different but to remain in place to support those in power. I really wanted to delve in more to many of the topics but thought this was a great short and easy read that covered so much in an enjoyable and informative way!

I received this book as an ARC but it got lost in the shuffle and I'm ashamed to have only just now read it. I'm a proud American but I sure was reaffirmed how little we have learned from our own history by reading this, definitely adding the initial book to my TBR list.

If I could pick anyone as my writing instructor, I'd pick Jason Reynolds. Right of the bat, he says this is not a history book. He's right; unlike many history books, Stamped is neither dry nor bores the reader with trivial information. Instead, Reynolds manages to present Ibram X Kendi‘s longer work in a conversational style that is easily digestible by the YA audience.

Wow! Just wow! So much history that I didn't even know. Schools really don't teach us the important history of racism. I also love the way Jason Reynolds writes/speaks. He knows how to speak to children and teens to get them to listen and you can tell that he has a genuine love for them!

At the end of each year, I take a look at Book Riot‘s #readharder, to see how I did, without actively participating in this challenge.
