AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! "The End of Her will keep you guessing right up to the end . . . once you pick it up, you will not want to put down."--USA Today The new domestic suspense novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Couple Next Door and Someone We Know A long-ago accident--and a visitor from out of the blue. . . Stephanie and Patrick are adjusting to life with their colicky twin girls. The babies are a handful, but even as Stephanie struggles with the disorientation of sleep deprivation, there's one thing she's sure of: she has all she ever wanted. Then Erica, a woman from Patrick's past, appears and makes a disturbing accusation. Patrick had always said his first wife's death was an accident, but now Erica claims it was murder. Patrick insists he's innocent, that this is nothing but a blackmail attempt. Still, Erica knows things about Patrick--things that make Stephanie begin to question her husband. Stephanie isn't sure what, or who, to believe. As Stephanie's trust in Patrick begins to falter, Patrick stands to lose everything. Is Patrick telling the truth--is Erica the persuasive liar Patrick says she is? Or has Stephanie made a terrible mistake? How will it end?

Shockingly hard to read. I normally am never able to predict plot twists but this was just really predictable and not at all thrilling. The inner monologues of characters were repetitive and it took forever for anything to actually happen. The ending was really unsatisfactory and hurried and the resolution for the central characters wife was not believable for her character arc. Not a fan.

Wow! What a story! As Ruth Ware said, “No one does suburban drama like Shari Lapena.” This was such a good book. Just when you think you know what everyone is up to-nope! Shari Lapena is the queen of domestic thrillers.”

High end of mediocre. None of the twists were good, they were all awful. But I read the whole thing in a sitting. I don‘t know how Shari does it but she does.

Why is Lapena such a good slump buster? Like… this book is …not that good. All of these people are irritating. But I‘ve binged 68% of this thing while my boyfriend has played Final Fantasy 7 remake most of the day. There‘s obviously something I like about it. A twisty thriller I couldn't put down. Admittedly, I didn't LOVE the resolution, but I also didn't hate it. Lapena seems to be the kind of author who I can get addicted to because of some fairly unbelievable twists that are also unbelievably captivating. Bonus: great for pulling me out of reading slumps.

I‘m a sucker for a multi-perspective domestic thriller and this did not disappoint. Two amazing twists lead to the ultimate ending which I felt was perfect for this situation and had me cheering out loud. Stephanie was by far my favorite character! #favoriteline “he‘s using wives like ATM‘s” 🙌🏻 brilliant.

I read quite a few books in March and enjoyed all but one of them. I know there have been mixed reviews on The End of Her, but I enjoyed it. I can see how if you were listening on audiobook it would be confusing with just one narrator. Overall, it was an excellent reading month.

One thing Shari Lapena never disappoints in is writing a quick and easy to follow storyline with a few twists thrown in for fun. Was the story believable? No…the story has 4 different character POV‘s so when the twist hits its not necessarily consistent with how all the characters interacted with one another but I‘m not here to pick the story apart. I was in the mood for a mindless, quick thriller and this book delivered just that!

Patrick was married before Stephanie, but his first wife died in a freak accident while she was pregnant with his baby. An affair in the mix, that came back to haunt Patrick & Stephanie. Erica making extreme claims that Patrick really murdered his first wife! Can Stephanie figure out the truth? Does she need to protect herself & her newborn twins? Such a twisting story of lies, deception, and betrayal. 4.8 out of 5 ⭐️ SO WORTH READING.

What did I just listen to? It started out pretty decent, maybe a few too many stilted moments of "she thought something seemed fishy here," but still OK. Then the various characters, especially women, all seemed to blend together both because of the narration but also their sheer lack of uniqueness. Then a climax, an end? But no. Last 10% was random twists that didn't make realistic and also were rushed. Maybe it's my mood...

Andrea4 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks it could be my mood buuut I just didn't really care about any of it. By the end, I was kind of like if all these characters murdered each other, I'd be ok with that 😂 3y

I was up until two in the morning finishing this one, so I suppose that makes it a pick for me. I always find the very end of these types of thrillers a bit less-than... but the rest was definitely worth it.

I am a huge fan of Shari LaPena, but this was not my favorite book of hers. The poos main character is exhausted as she stays home each day with her colicky newborn twins. She means well and is doing her best. Unluckily for her, it seems as though she married an man with a past. His past revisits in the form of a haughty (annoying..want to punch her) woman who is attempting to blackmail them. Can her husband be trusted?

Overall Rating 3¼⭐ | Narration 😕 = Should‘ve had more narrators

While it kept me listening and I wouldn‘t say it was bad per se….I just didn‘t see it going in the direction it did near the end. It felt like it came out of nowhere and sort of left a bad taste in my mouth.

Lots of gardening listening and posting lately, but I‘m getting close to having the space set up! Many books going into this plot 🥰 this story was a bit lackluster at first, with a ton of plot twists towards the end. Overall...meh. Not a total waste of time, but I kept waiting to be engaged and it just never got there for me 🤷🏽‍♀️ #2021

I forgot to add this book when I finished it last week. Oops! Stephanie and Patrick are newlyweds with newborn twin girls. And Patrick past comes back to haunt him and his family. I loved how strong Stephanie was even when she was at her weakest. I never saw the ending come. It was a true twist!

Stephanie and Patrick Kilgour are happily married with twin daughters until Erica shows up and accuses Patrick of killing his first wife, Lindsay, and their baby. They did die but it was claimed to be an accident. But is Patrick telling the truth? This is a perfectly paced and plotted whodunit and had me guessing all the way through. I‘m looking forward to reading her next one. Recommended.

Andrew65 Enjoy her books but not read this one. 👏👏👏 4y

I enjoy Lapena's thrillers, even if they aren't perfect. Like... say you're wealthy and you have colicky twins and you haven't slept much. The common sense approach would be to hire help so you can sleep. Some fun twists, although I was hoping for a slightly different ending, I was pleased with it.
