"GET ANGRY. We should all be so pissed at the Church of America that we're willing to break our hands in the metaphorical punching of its metaphorical face." --Harpreet Janda, fugitive The predicted Rapture by Pastor Frick's Church of America has come and gone, and three thousand Believers are now missing or dead. Seventeen-year-old Vivian Apple and her best friend, Harpreet, are revolutionaries, determined to expose the Church's diabolical power grab . . . and to locate Viv's missing heartthrob, Peter Ivey. This fast-paced, entertaining sequel to Vivian Apple at the End of the World challenges readers to consider how to live with integrity in a disintegrating world.

I started and ended the year with Vivian Apple. As Vivian continues her quest against the villainous Church of America which is busy at work deluding people and monetizing the apocalypse, she becomes a little less normal human being navigating the apocalypse and a little more “Vivian Apple, unlikely action hero.” As such, I preferred the first book but this one was still good and a satisfying conclusion to Viv‘s story. #bookspinbingo

Another roller-coaster ride with Viv and Harp. These girls are fierce and honest and funny and tough.

A busy Sunday for me, but not my cats! I loaded up my car with donations (almost 100 books plus other stuff), got a few groceries, dropped off the boxes at goodwill, spent a couple of hours at my mom's house where we called my Aunt and talked about genealogy, came home, took care of my neighbors' house, and am 4 loads of laundry deep so far. Really want to spend some time w this book and try Bookout, but may end up smooching Chico here instead.

saresmoore Phew! What a day! 8y
Laura317 I'm tired just reading all that you accomplished! 8y
Stephykitten I love those days! I feel so delightfully exhausted with a book or tv at the end 😇 8y

Suzze I knew I was a slug but now I feel even sluggier. All I did today was set up my new printer. 8y
LauraBrook @saresmoore It was kind of crazy! @Laura317 Me too, honestly! 😉 @Stephykitten Yes, they're good for that, but I didn't really get tired until 5 AM this morning, so today will be a wash. @Suzze That's plenty to do! Sundays are usually my 🐌 days, where all I do I get up to eat and get a new book. Hoping today turns out to be like that! 8y
kspenmoll What a day! Impressive! Love the feeling of accomplishment when so much gets done. I have tons of books ( had to cull 😢, no room) waiting for a summer library sale but will goodwill take any books? Never thought of them! 8y
LauraBrook @kspenmoll I know, it was an impressive Sunday last week. Today? Still in pajamas, drinking coffee, and trying to make myself get off of Litsy and start my taxes. Goodwill will take any books! I had a lot of older ARCs that was going to save for when I got a little free library, but seeing as they're a few hundred dollars, I decided to let them go and reclaim some porch space! I'm sorry you couldn't keep all of your books! 😢😢😢 8y
kspenmoll Thanks! We just don't have the room & there are 3 of us book hoarders. I have neighbors that all read so often I have them go through books before I give away & they read & pass on as well. That makes me feel good! 📚😃 8y

My cold black heart is completely anti-romance but if you take the BOYS! out of this novel (maybe if it were written for an adult audience rather than YA) it would be perfect. Clever and scary and just fun to read! (note: not disparaging YA novels it just seems that romance is a prerequisite and that's just not something I am personally into)

Finished the audiobook today! Solid sequel, and Coyle had clever ways to get the plot moving again when she wrote herself towards a stall. I like the first book better but the books together have a very, very richly painted world of a religious and cultural apocalypse and a girl and her friends trying to survive. Still very fresh, feminist, and timely.

Audiobook sequel to one of the most interesting and timely YA books I've read, about a Rapture predicted by a fictional, overly commercial religion that could have been founded by Trump, narrated by one of the most fierce and feminist young woman narrators to be written? Yes please!!! Short drives = more listening time. Thanks Audible!

bookandcat @Saaybs I would love to hear your thoughts on this series! 8y
MrBook Interesting... 8y
Saaybs Ooooh @bookandcat this looks good! Have you read it? 8y
bookandcat @Saaybs I read book 1 and really liked it. So much food for thought, lots of commentary on commercialism, when religion becomes tainted by cult of personality and scapegoats women, etc. So far the sequel is decent but I'm only on chapter 6. While I am thinking the author probably does not subscribe to a religion herseld, the book themes remind me of a lot of the topics you blog about and issues you speak out against. 8y

Daisey Really curious to hear how you like this sequel. I haven't decided if I want to track it down to read yet or not. 9y

3🌟 I really wanted Vivian Apple's story to have a better ending(?) than this. The first book was an original 5🌟 great YA novel, but every move in this book was predictable. It just made me sad. I guess I recommend it if you've read the first, but maybe you should just imagine a better ending. 😕

Just finished Only Love. Still processing. Had to start Vivan Apple even though it's late. I've been eagerly awaiting this sequel! I wish I could read the end of book one again. It's doing pretty okay at catching me up, though.

Humorous. Action-packed. Teenage romance. Church scandal. A good sequel to "Vivian Apple at the End of the World." If you want a light and funny YA read, then pick these two up :)

Enjoyed the first one and I hope this one goes just as well. Nothing like reading a good book (hopefully) while enjoying a good pastrami! Haha

Any idiot can see the planet is dying. Can you imagine what would happen if we told ourselves it was all our fault, rather than the righteous course of an angry God? The guilt would be unbearable, Vivian.

Just finished Vivian Apple Needs a Miracle by Katie Coyle. What an incredible book about badass teenagers. I wanted to be best friends with Vivian and Harp all over again. Thanks for this one, Katie. I can't wait to read what you're working on now.
