The Baby-sitters Club: Mary Anne Saves the Day
The Baby-sitters Club: Mary Anne Saves the Day | Ann M. Martin, Raina Telgemeier
13 posts | 31 read | 2 to read
The hit series returns to charm and inspire another generation of baby-sitters! Mary Anne has never been a leader of the BSC. So when a fight breaks out among the club's four members, Mary Anne feels a little lost, unable to depend on Kristy, Stacey, or Claudia anymore. Sitting by herself in the cafeteria is bad enough; when Mary Anne has to baby-sit a sick child without any help from the club, she knows someone has to take action. It's time for Mary Anne to step in and save the day! The best friends you'll ever have--with classic BSC covers and a letter from Ann M. Martin!

Graphic Novel, 2021. This series is based off of the original Babysitters Club series from my childhood. I love the spin on this series and the idea of turning it into a graphic novel. Sometimes kids are intimidated by the amount of words in chapter books and this gives them the same story with more pictures to follow along.

Fourth in the original Babysitters Club books series. I remember this being an important book to me as a middle schooler. The whole series was great but there was something about Dawn and Mary Anne that I just related to. #46-2022

Bookwormjillk Mary Anne was so good in this one 3y

Mary Anne Spier, my favourite! Also this line is how Mary Anne describes Kristy's fashion sense: "Kristy wears clothes only because it's against the law to go to school naked." ??

Mary Anne was totally my girl back in the day. I identified with her so much then.

It‘s a quick and breezy trip down memory lane with the BSC.

Has anyone checked out the new Netflix adaptation of The Baby-Sitter‘s Club? I‘m pretty impressed with how they‘ve modernized it, and the issues they cover, including Trans inclusivity.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I haven‘t, but now I want too! 4y
janeycanuck It‘s on my list for when I finally finish the latest season of Queer Eye! 4y
Avanders I haven‘t yet... but when I saw the ad for the first time, I *immediately* recognized the girls as the babysitters club — impressive casting/costuming!! 4y

Continuing the BSC reread with another favorite! I always loved this one because Mary Anne shows so much growth in it, and is a bad ass in her own way. 💖

Bookwormjillk Ha! I just posted about this too! (Graphic novel version.) 4y
alisiakae @Bookwormjillk wow, our posts were almost simultaneous! 😃 I love the GN versions too 4y
alisiakae @Bookwormjillk but also, damn, the girls were mean to each other in this one. I forgot just how vicious they could be when angry. 4y
Bookwormjillk @4thhouseontheleft they really were! And Mary Anne‘s dad was kind of weirdly controlling 4y
alisiakae @Bookwormjillk he really was! Although it didn‘t seem as odd to me when I read it as a kid because I grew up with very strict, overprotective parent(s) as well. (edited) 4y

So I downloaded this one off of Libby because I was looking for something that might be nostalgic and fun and light. I went to the clinic yesterday and had a 101.7 fever (my current read Heartshapped Box was getting a bit heavy).

Anyway, I loved it, it was super cute super quick and yay for Mary Anne asserting her independence and pulling everyone together! I ended up putting a couple more on hold to just have that little light read :)

Time for my next round of Baby-Sitters Club rereads! I need something super easy and light tonight because my work day got real rough at the end. Probably will just read book 4 tonight and then 5 and 6 tomorrow night (two are due back at the library by Saturday). And I‘m so happy that a couple of these have the original covers! ☺️

Another great entry for this series. I feel like Mary Anne is the most relatable one for me aside from her strict father. Glad to see he‘s letting her grow up a little though.

GA_Bookworm07 I had so many of these back in the day and had the movie 7y
Born.A.Reader Mary Anne was always my favorite. I kept all my BSC books and am working on finding the ones I'm missing for my daughter. Absolutely adored these when I was younger! ❤❤ 7y

I grew up on the BSC, and I most related to Mary Anne. Wonder what she's up to these days? 🤔
