This book has been on a lot of best horror book lists, including lists of extreme horror. I must have a high tolerance because I didn't find it extreme, although there was some squick and definitely some uncomfortable scenes. Lori is in love with a serial killer who tests her loyalty by sending her to retrieve a key and find the River Man. Lori, as it turns out, has also done some bad things. This book is dark, imaginative and also kinda heart💔.

Extreme horror. Lori is an obsessed pen pal of a serial killer, who sends her on a quest to find a key and deliver it to the River Man. Along the way more and more of her past is revealed and it is shocking. Creepy, atmospheric, gory. There is a supernatural element that normally would put me off, but it works in this case.

Books of Horror Indie Author Brawl! This was great. I wasn‘t quite sure what to expect; it has some extreme horror elements, but I don‘t think it really qualifies as such. Definitely son TWs though. GREAT ending.

(2020) Mixed feelings. Gross-out horror doesn't appeal to me like it used to, and the bleak bleakness sometimes felt like misery porn. But I do still love an atmospheric supernatural thriller, and for me Triana delivers the creepy. I'd read another.

This was a great book but very messed up. Lori is obsessed with a convicted serial killer/rapist/torture and will do anything to win his favor. Very dark, very disturbing.

Call me crazy but I really enjoyed this. Equally dark, unsettling, sad and hard to read at times but those are all the things I loved about it. Predictable? Sure but a quick and compelling read.

This book was incredibly disturbing, but I did read it in one sitting. What does that say about me?

Started out great. I liked how Lori kept trying to tell herself she wasn‘t a serial killer groupie when clearly she was. As Lori and her sister Abby got further into their journey to see the river man, Lori‘s true persona came out and boy was she a terrible person.

This is by far the most horrific thing that I've ever read. Time to go bleach my eyeballs and possibly my soul. Trigger warnings for everything.

I‘m sitting here on my lunch hour. I‘m about to start my new book. I open it up and find the wrong book inside. It has the correct cover but a whole other book on the inside. Has this ever happened to anyone? I am upset. I feel cheated. I bought this online and now I have to try to get my money back.
