This was a fun but dark vampire apocalyptic type book. Auggie is used to living in a town full of vampires. He's not used to them constantly approaching him, claiming that he's some prophesied vessel for the rise of a dark being. Now he's got multiple cults after him trying to get him on their side while he's just trying to pass algebra. And hows he supposed to keep his head when the cute vampires keep flirting with him?

Auggie just wanted to graduate high school and get out of town. Now he has to deal with cute boy vampires and possibly becoming a vessel for an ultimate evil.

My biggest issue was that everything was too fast. The plot was breakneck, start to finish. Character intros were dropped on us and not fleshed out, we get 4 separate cults, and a rushed ending.

Auggie was the saving grace here, charming and real. I just wanted more depth. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

So my #scarathlon2020 list is the same as my #screamathon2020 list, which will also be my #bookspin list for Oct ( I‘ll add numbers later). For those saying I‘ve seen this list, I added 4 titles.

— the romance threw me for a bit of a loop, but not necessarily in a bad way
— plot had some twists but on the whole was pretty expected

A fun YA vampire story about a boy becoming possessed with an ancient entity that vampires and humans alike want to either kill or control. Add to hot vampires with warring agendas and Auggie's pretty much screwed. I enjoyed the subversion of the typical love triangle plus all the twists and turns this book took. Just an overall fun read that included a lot of historical connections which I liked, too.

New day, new vampire book (is it obvious I'm working on a vampire related article at the moment? 😂)

This is a fun one! Supernatural creatures coexist with humans and the main character is living in an epicenter to hell. Enter the Apocalyse and vampires, witches, and demon hunters are getting involved as the protagonist must deal with saving the world, get involve in a queer bloodsucking love triangle, graduate high school, and deal with the pressures of being a teenager. A hysterical YA satire in the paranormal trope.

So excited for this . Caleb is returning to a world of darkness. His first books were horror and his last book was Death Prefers Blonds, which I loved! This is a vampire book which is also #OwnVoices for the LGBTQIA+ .

Plus the author is really fun on Twitter.
