I read this between Apr 30 & May 29 and gave it 4 ⭐️. I quite enjoyed it and will probably seek out more of Saki‘s work. I feel that Edward Gorey‘s illustrations suited the stories rather well.

Dry, darkly comedic short stories (usually 5-6 pages) that frequently feature children having fun at the expense of stuffy adults.
Cecil was trying to do his best Edward Gorey cat impression, but he kept getting upstaged by the kitten.
Mostly Dead Things was supposed to arrive in the mail yesterday, but it didn‘t. So short stories it is. These are very dry pokes at the post-Victorian upper class. My favorite so far is about a husband who thinks his wife is obstinately avoiding conversation, but she‘s really just dead.
#ReadingResolutions Day 26: This definitely counts as #CoverLove because, hey, Ed Gorey? The Tolstaya book isn‘t bad either. I 💕 NYRB titles.
Part Two of my #BookHaul #BookHuntingExpeditions from the one-day-only 50% off NYRB classics for 5 books bought or more. Naturally, I got the “or more” option. Cannot wait to get my hands on these precious ones. #NYRBSale
