The Lions Of Lucerne
The Lions Of Lucerne | Brad Thor
21 posts | 25 read | 12 to read
When the president is kidnapped during his ski holiday in Colorado, disavowed Secret Service Agent Scott Harvath is his only hope of rescue. Tracking the kidnapper to Switzerland, and with the ambitious Claudia Muehler of the Swiss Federal Attorney's Office to assist him, the pair are forced to go it alone as they realise the kidnapping plot reaches some of the highest levels of the Swiss Intelligence community. In a race against time, they must scale the treacherous heights of Mt. Pilatus, uncover a hidden military fortress secreted beneath its peak, and defeat the formidable force that stands between them and the safe return of the president - the deadly men known as the Lions of Lucerne. Look out for the adrenaline-fuelled new Brad Thor novel, Code of Conduct, published in July 2015!

The latest installment of our wildly popular Thriller Corner is up over on Patreon! We dissect The Lions of Lucerne. How realistic is the plot? How much does that matter? Is our intrepid hero kind of an idiot? All these things and more are up for discussion.

Patreon subscriptions start at three bucks a month and new subscribers will receive bookmarks, coffee mugs, and access to bonus content. Enjoy!

This was the first book that came to mind with the prompt of #Switzerland. The first book in the excellent Scot Harvath Series. #LetsTravelAugust

When the President is kidnapped, all signs point to Secret Service Agent Scot Harvath as having played a role in the abduction. Desperate to prove his innocence, Harvath goes on the run. As the frame around him is more carefully constructed, Harvath becomes increasingly desperate. Breaks and betrayals are balanced in this fast-paced thriller that has lots of twists, without ever seeming forced. This is the first Harvath book and it‘s a winner.

Fast paced political thriller about the President being kidnapped. Brad Thor keeps the reader furiously turning pages to reach the conclusion. The main character, Scot Harvath, is definitely one I will choose to follow into the next book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Been a crazy weekend and beginning to the week. Hosted my dad‘s 80th bday party over the weekend, my son suffered a finger fracture with extension to the growth plate (specialist appointment today & doc says he will heal just fine), and work is nuts (in a good way). I‘ve had such little time to read. Tonight the house is quiet, so I‘m going to relax with a glass of French wine and my book. SO close to finishing!

I was all set to post this photo this morning with the following caption: “After working extra hours this week, and taking care of everyone else, I‘m giving myself some time today.”

Literally was typing, when my boss called & asked if I would help with a project today. Ah, well. I‘m left with about 10 minutes until dinner & we are headed out to see the school musical tonight - my son is in the pit band. I‘ll make the most of my 10 minutes. 🤷‍♀️

I wish I could stay here and keep reading. But, alas, Favorite Dinner Friday isn‘t going to make itself. 🌮

This book is great so far! 80 pages in and I am turning the pages as fast as I can!

Hamilton, my constant companion, is less than interested. I didn‘t fall in love with him for his taste in books, or his breath. 😉❤️📚🐶🐩 #dogsoflitsy #poodlesoflitsy #minipoodle #ilovemydog

My 12 year old son gave me the 15th book in this series, called Code of Conduct, for Christmas 2017. He was 10 at the time, and didn‘t know the book was part of a series, much less the 15th one. He only knows his Mama loves to read, so he gave me my favorite thing for Christmas. ❤️ I‘m finally going to start the series, so that I can get to that book he gave me.📚 Thanks to my new Kindle Unlimited subscription, I can read this one for “free.”

I‘m finally home from Amarillo tonight. I had a lot of insomnia while there so I read a lot of the tagged book on Kindle in the wee hours of the mornings. Otherwise, when I wasn‘t working I was reading Wilbur Smith. Both are really good so far. Lots of action that keeps me turning the pages.

Andrew65 I enjoy the Brad Thor series. 7y

This is a big book in so many ways and does a good job of introducing the main character to the series, Scot Horvath. By the end of the book we know him very well, what makes him tick and his key strengths, but whatever you do don't point a gun, a knife or even a finger at him - you will regret it! An interesting theme is set up in this book with the kidnapping of the American President and Scot sets about finding the President to bring him home.

I am returning to this book after a short period away concentrating on other lighter reads. Felt this book needed a concentrated spell of reading that I can now give it.

Last night I started the first book in the Scott Horvath Series by Brad Thor, so I have now got three books on the go - a detective book, a spy book and historical fiction set in the early 1900s.

Melissa_J I've got a few books on the go, too. 8y
Andrew65 1 is a Group Read, 1 is my audiobook for the drive to and from work and one is for my Round the World Challenge. 8y
Melissa_J @Andrew65 my only excuse is that I can't settle on one book! 8y
Rachbb3 I love that series. 8y
Andrew65 @Rachbb3 This is only the second book I've read in the series, but did enjoy the first one. 8y

I really enjoyed Lions. Well written fast paced thriller. While the who was never really a mystery the how and the why behind the orchestration of a presidential kidnapping kept me turning the pages. Would love to see this movies.

Lions was book 38 of the year for me. Always great to be on pace to reach my reading goal.
