An inspiring memoir of life, love, loss, and new beginnings by the widower of bestselling childrens author and filmmaker Amy Krouse Rosenthal, whose last of act of love before her death was setting the stage for her husbands life without her in a column in the New York Times. On March 3, 2017, Amy Krouse Rosenthal penned an op-ed piece for the New York Times Modern Love column You May Want to Marry My Husband. It appeared ten days before her death from ovarian cancer. A heartbreaking, wry, brutally honest, and creative play on a personal adin which a dying wife encouraged her husband to go on and find happiness after her demisethe column quickly went viral, reaching more than five million people worldwide. In My Wife Said You May Want to Marry Me, Jason describes what came next: his commitment to respecting Amys wish, even as he struggled with her loss. Surveying his life before, with, and after Amy, Jason ruminates on love, the pain of watching a loved one suffer, and what it means to healhow he and their three children, despite their profound sorrow, went on. Jasons emotional journey offers insights on dying and death and the excruciating pain of losing a soulmate, and illuminates the lessons he learned. As he reflects on Amys gift to hima fresh start to fill his empty space with a new storyJason describes how he continues to honor Amys life and her last wish, and how he seeks to appreciate every day and live in the moment while trying to help others coping with loss. My Wife Said You May Want to Marry Me is the poignant, unreserved, and inspiring story of a great love, the aftermath of a marriage ended too soon, and how a surviving partner eventually found a new perspective on lifes joys in the wake of tremendous loss.

This is a special book about love, loss, and family. It is one of the best books about grief I‘ve ever read and manages to stay positive and uplifting while honest and transparent. Beautifully written. #BookspinBingo #audio @TheAromaofBooks

10 days before her death from ovarian cancer, Amy Krouse Rosenthal published an essay titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband.” This is her husband‘s memoir processing her diagnosis, death, and his grief.

I always feel weird reviewing memoirs, particularly memoirs of traumatizing events. But I feel this suffers a little from rose colored glasses, where all the difficult things get glossed past, and the good are elevated too much. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

BookmarkTavern Read Krouse‘s essay, and then watch Rosenthal‘s TED talk. And you get the most important parts of this book. 3y

MartinaLove @ozma.of.oz I'm really thinking about buying it on the Switch but I already play Animal Crossing and Story of Season: Pioneer of Olive Town. But I really love the scenery Stardew Valley has. 3y
Lreads Stardew Valley is so good! 3y
rabbitprincess YUSSSSSS STARDEW VALLEY!!!!!!!! That game has taken up most of my 2021 haha 😅👩🏻‍🌾 Tell me everything about your farm!! 😊 (edited) 3y
BookmarkTavern @rabbitprincess My sister introduced me to it last year when the lockdowns first started in our area, and I‘ve loved it ever since. I‘m currently working on a forest farm, because I love the foraging aspect. 💚 I just started a new one, and I have blueberry plants everywhere! 😂 3y
rabbitprincess @ozma.of.oz Ooh, I want to try the forest farm next! It looks so pretty 😊 Blueberries are so much fun to harvest! I have 2 Four Corners farms (3 if you count my brother‘s, which I do multiplayer on) and a Beach farm with an invented character rather than a self-insert 🤣 3y
kwmg40 I love Stardew Valley too! 3y

I don‘t want to give a memoir about love, loss, and grief a 2-star rating, but I can‘t rate it any higher. I have no doubt that Jason and Amy had a happy, love-filled life together, but the way that Jason presented their relationship and their family was just too sugar-coated.
