pickThis was a short, fun book - one of my younger daughter‘s favorites! (I read it because she begged me to so we can discuss it. 🥰) Jim Dale was a favorite narrator already, so it was great that he narrated it. This book is full of magic, family drama, found/chosen family, and making peace with the hard things in life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #audiobook #Libby
pickThis was such a sweet, moving fun little story.
It was much younger than i anticipated - I didn't realise it was Middle Grade until I started reading.
I'm not a regular reader of this age group, but for me it held all the elements needed to capture the attention. We have a Ghost, a mystery, an adventure and a lesson to learn.
pickThis was darker than expected, tho of course it is about a girl who lost her dad & is living w/her awful stepmom. Still whimsical & sweet at times, appreciate the age-appropriate focus on grief. Liked how the plot came together. Some characters were kinda flat, and I wish there was more to the ending. Also I know this was pubbed a decade ago & 3rd person singular pronouns weren‘t widely used then but still winced at Po being called “it”. 3/5 ⭐️
“People need other people to feel things for them,” she said. “It gets lonely to feel things all by yourself.”
All children were the same to him: strange and sticky and best avoided, like an upright variety of jellyfish.
These are good days for middle grade books. Next one for #mgm2020 - for the prompt to read a book with illustrations. #nowreading
pickAw this was cute. It's definitely got a lot of traditional mg influences and points but it's a quick read with fun characters which is what I need during a pandemic.

I am reading Liesl and Po to my 10 yr old daughter, Lena, and she *cracked up* when an old lady offered Liesl a "potato muffin". She couldn't imagine potato in a muffin. The next day I did some Pinteresting and found 2 recipes: one savory and one sweet. She chose the sweet and we made the sweet potato muffins this morning. They are delicious and Lena is amazed. ?
pickI listened to the audiobook and Jim Dale narrates it. It was so lovely. Reminded me of The Graveyard Book By Neil Gaiman.
I‘ve heard good things about this book and I‘ve wanted to read it. It was available from my library on audio and I couldn‘t resist. I‘m about an hour in - so far so good. I‘m really sucked in and enjoying Jim Dale‘s narration.
I may not have loved the last Lauren Oliver book I read (The Shrunken Head), but it was the exception to the rule. I am forever this woman's Little Olive. 🍸
