Guide to Tolkien's World: A Bestiary
Guide to Tolkien's World: A Bestiary | David Day
10 posts | 11 read | 11 to read
Guide to Tolkien's World is a scholarly, definitive, and enchantingly beautiful reference to all the living creatures -- both flora and fauna -- that inhabit J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth and Undying Lands. It is complete with descriptive text, both black and white and color illustrations, maps, a chronology, and a special index referring readers back to Tolkien's original works. All 129 races identified are clearly explained in terms of their physical appearance, language, behavior, and culture.

I‘m using this as kind of a reading companion/reference book as I read all of The Lord of the Rings. It makes for more insightful reading! I‘ve read all the Tolkien books, including The Silmarillion, but it‘s been many years...so this Characters from Tolkien is filling in the blanks in my memory. I don‘t remember where I found this but it‘s AWESOME.

One of the best things about fantasy has to be magical creatures. Got any favourites?

This book is a must for any hardcore Tolkien fans. It‘s a detailed guide to all the different people, places, creatures, and cultures that are found in Tolkien‘s universe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sold some books back to my local-ish HPB so of course I had to pick up some new books while I was there 😁 So excited for these!

RainyDayReading @Sorceryandswords Totally thought I had replied to you 🙈 oops. But yes! It talks about all the plants and creatures in Middle Earth! So much fun to flip through. 6y

My annotate Hobbit. This must be one of the first (possibly the very first) Tolkien book l've bought.
The Tolkien Bestiry came soon after.

Luigi, one of my friends from the Tolkien group, bought this same edition (now out of print) on eBay a few years ago. He said he could not avoid it since the book was signed and dedicated 'To Luigi' 😂

I just purchased a used copy of this book so I'm not in a hurry to finish it before it's due on Monday but it's a good way to spend an evening.
I have Critical Role playing on my new speaker. I have to finish this story before the new one starts next year. ❤️

A bit of bedtime reading while I wait for my eyes to get heavy. This has some pretty awesome illustrations and the entries are really detailed. Definitely going to find a copy to own.

GypsyKat So cool! 7y
